Their evidence was that I improve too quickly. apparently it's impossible to show fast improvement ever and everyone is the same.
That's nothing!... I always get criticised for relying on Sketchup too much instead of manually drawing BG's like everybody does... or that my Sprite poses looked too stiff and artificial as if it's like traced from a Doll or a Figma to speed things up... or the fact that I can't resist self inserting myself in everything I write... or that I intentionally abuse the use of ellipses in everything I write... and you know what?...
All of the above are very much true.
Long story short, as long as you're not directly tracing or ripping others art and posing them as your own then everything is just fine.
"POOF" (Disappears)
Edit: Now that I think about it... is tracing from Figma's I pose myself borderline unethical?... what do you think?

I'm so done with Deviantart omg
Brb gonna break into an art museum now
Really? That's just sad.
Apparently everyone has to improve at the same rate as everyone else in order for it to be legitimate.

Haha. You're just cheating too obviously. You could totally do what I do and just make your environments in 3dsMax or Sketchup and then draw over them. It's like only halfway cheating.

It's rather easy to prove one's innocence in art theft. Just show them the sketches or some layers that impossible to have with only the final art. Unless you lost the raw files or you're indeed tracing art, it should be easy to prove.

I'm not sure how it works in DA, but, IRL you don't have to prove innocence, you only have to defense it, they have to prove culpability.
I've seen your DA gallery. Really nice art. Watching you now.

This is ridiculous.
Just take it as a compliment, hun--someone is really, really jealous.
(Which isn't a surprise since your art is beautiful. <3)

Hah...
I'm not really angry, just... confused and amused.
I'm rather active in a RPG-board where we have a gallery.
As they are not specialised on art it's not surprising that I'm one of the best there. (Plus it's a rather small one, I guess.)
And this is why I'm wondering why every piece of nonsense is rated with five stars and my pictures all get a 3 stars rating?
What exactly's wrong there? óO
(It nearly feels like dA where some of the most beautiful pictures are left to rot while some halfassed sketches with enormous breasts are on the front page.)
@Pyonkotchi I was looking at your dA, and it took me some time to find your old pictures to compare because you draw so frickin' much.
Isn't that enough of a reason to improve quickly? At least it seems perfectly normal and fair to me.
I was happily working on a BxG project outline when I realized, this thing is too girly -- maybe because most of the setting and initial ideas are by my super girly best friend. Few guys would want to play, but many girls don't play BxG at all; at least, most female VN players I know outside this forum would rather play a GxB where they can fawn over the boys.
Still, I'm attached to the story and its characters, and I'm confident I can make a solid game out of them, but I don't want it to be outright dismissed by many prospective players because of that. What to do...
^ Hun, I'm sure you'll be able to pull it off.
(Before I heard of otome games I only played BxG. :'D)
I normally don't look into WIP-threads when I see BxG, but when I see a lot in the "Dump your art here"-thread or the banner looks interesting I usually check out the thread/blog (or if people are super nice).
So basically--as long as you do some marketing, ergo are active on boards etc., people will play it. :>
Thank you so much, that's reassuring.
All odds are against me -- (European) school setting, nakige, anime art -- but ultimately I know it depends on me alone to make it appealing. I'm just afraid of people dismissing it without a second look, but I'll try to do as you've said and lure them with art xD And work on writing a nice synopsis and promoting the game at many places, of course.
