What kind of drama are you looking for?

For educational(?) kinds of school life Japanese drama, I can recommend you;

Asuko March is about a girl who was forced to attend an industrial high school by her grandpa. The story is about her struggling to get enough grades so she can transfer to a better school and how she slowly discovers the fun and dramas in Asuko(the school's name) and of people who were trying their best to make their dreams come true. It has romance btw.

Rookies is a sports drama about a certain teacher who strives to guide a certain baseball team(which were filled with no good but talented yankees) to realize their dreams and go to Koshien(a famous high school baseball tournament in Japan).

Dragon Sakura is a school drama and it's about a teacher(again) who is a former lawyer and his story as he guides his students to pass in Toudai(the most prestigious university in Japan). Again, the students were those who need to get their lives like Rookies.

These dramas teaches you lessons in life and they were really touching. Maybe I'm just a cry-baby but I cried in some episodes(usually near the ending). And since I suck in making summaries, please google them for more info Dx

Yukan Club--This drama is ten episodes of fun and plots and drama and charm, with two guys from my favorite J-Pop band as main characters in it. Highly recommended.

GTO (Great Teacher Onizuka).... Not the 2012 one, but the older one... 1999, I think? (The actors are better looking, and in my opinion, maybe better actors). Also highly recommended.

I may have to look into some of the other recommendations in this thread! Like try10, I tend to prefer Korean dramas but these sound decent~~.

Ad...Gokusen couldn't hold my interest long enough, but Gokusen the Movie was really really good! (Kame~~<3)

It's ancient, it's campy, but I love Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon. A few of the actresses really grow in the course of the series, especially Keiko Kitagawa.

@enta- Looking for nothing in particular just something that won't make me fall asleep. I can watch anything from mystery supernatural drama eg Akumu chan, xxxholic to guys beating each other up everyday eg. Sugarless. I think Nodame Cantible is my favourite so far.

@try10- Do you watch both Korean and Japanese versions of the same drama?
-Oh I'd love Korean drama recommendations but I don't know If I can watch it right away. I'm studying Japanese and classes don't resume until May. So I'm going to watch a few J dramas to remember the language. As 9-of-Hearts prefers K-drama too we should make a Korean stuff thread xD
-I've seen the first season of the Liar Game its pretty clever and I leant a thing or two about psychology

@9-of-Hearts- Oh what band is that?
-Gokusen couldn't hold my interest either but I started from the 3rd season apparently the first is the best IDK

@Taleweaver- Its weird seeing what the characters would look like in real life xD I'm glad that the drama didn't ruin the animation for you.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! You've all been really helpful.

If K-Dramas are okay check out My Girlfriend is a Gumiho

It's really funny and quite interesting it you ignore that the main character is a bit of a little bitch.

I thought the other girl (the main guy's crush) was bitchier. At the end I was like 'No Hongki don't fall for her!' Yeah the story was interesting it made me want to research 9 tailed foxes. Have you heard the violin covers of this drama by Daniel Kim? Its so nice and the reason why I started watching it.

I'm going to recommend the K-drama 'Ghost'/'Phantom' http://www.dramacrazy.net/korean-drama/ghost/. Its about hacking and a corrupt police force. Its funny with some intense hacking and action scenes and lots of plot twists that will have you at the edge of the seat. We watched it while the series was airing so it was painful waiting for the next episode after all of the cliff hangers. There was one dodgy episode though which was full of flashbacks and the two male leads were giggling and tickling each other and yearning for each other but then it returned to its normal mood.

@Duskylli I love reading up on mythology it's so interesting. The Fox myth doesn't really change much between the Asian and Western native tribes in the states. <Which is EVEN MORE interesting.

*Just going off memory* The tails tell us how old and powerful they are. Her playful nature is the same for most of the "fox" demons, gods and monsters which in most of the Asian cultures are usually the same meaning.

It's too bad most of the sources were white washed by early christian publishers which get repeated again and again until the originals are forgotten. I've got a book at home that has most of the mythology and folklore before the 1920's. I'll see if I can find it when I get home. OMG it's interesting.

Some of them have both korean and japanese versions:

Hana yori dango (japanese) Boys Over Flowers (korean ) http://www.dramacrazy.net/korean-drama/ ... e-flowers/ I think there are even a chinese http://www.dramacrazy.net/chinese-drama ... or-shower/
and taiwanese http://www.dramacrazy.net/taiwanese-dra ... or-garden/ Meteor Garden 2 (Taiwanese Drama)
adaptation of this manga, but I haven't seen them. ( I don't like watching chinese and taiwanese dramas very much).

Ikemen Desu Ne ( japanese) You're beautiful (Korean) http://www.dramacrazy.net/korean-drama/youre-beautiful/

Hana kimi ( japanese ) Hana Kimi taiwanese http://www.dramacrazy.net/taiwanese-dra ... n-version/ To the Beautiful you ( korean version with Minho from famous Kpop boy band SHINee :D) and there is also ANOTHER JAPANESE remake that I didn't finish watching because it bored me http://www.dramacrazy.net/japanese-dram ... mi-remake/.

I'd reccomend:
Family Doramas:
Inu wo Kau to Iu Koto (it has Nishikido Ryo, my favorite Japanese actor!
14sai no haha
Iki mo Dekinai Natsu

Love:
Akai Ito, Koizora (basically boy meets girl with some dramatic twist. I found Akai Ito to be more enjoyable since I had doubts who the girl would end up with while Koizora felt a little rushed)
My Rainy Days (I didn't cry and laugh so much while watching any other movie)
Honey and Clover (the movie was a lot better than the anime... At least for me. I couldn't stand the anime because it was so boring)
Clearness (but there are no eng subs for this on the internet. If you don't mind that and have a basic understanding, you might enjoy the movie. Even thought I only understood less than half of it, it still was enjoyable)

Hm I'm not sure... maybe I should call this "youth"?:
1 Litre of Tears (a true and very sad story)
Life (basically about bullying. I really do look up to the main character since I would have surrendered in her situation)
The Suicide Song (maybe a bit scary? But it has my most beloved Sayka ♥ I liked the mystery)
IS - Otoko Demo Onna Demo Nai Sei (I'm currently watching it but finding it highly addictive. It really is something diffferent with some unpredictable events)

Funny: Water Boys 2 (a boys swimming synchro club)& Saba Doru (story about a 38 year old teacher who is a secret idol staring Mayuyu ♥) & Papadoru (Nishikido Ryo again~ he falls in love with a divorced woman who already has 3 children. not only is the relationship a forbidden one, but the woman's children want to get rid of him too), maybe even Megutan tte Mahou Tsukaeru no? (thought I know many people who do not like it, but I love it, especially because it has Kojima Haruna, AKB member ♥)

For Korean Dramas: My Girlfriend is a Gumiho (like already mentioned), A Love To Kill (if you don't mind a strange ending and crying the whole time), Fantasy Couple (it's very funny!), Full House (that's a classic and it has my favorite Korean actor, Kim Sung Soo)

As you can see, I'm more of a JDorama fan...

If K-dramas are okay, here are some that I recommend:

1. You're beautiful- about a sister-in-training forced to join a boy idol group as her brother's. Male lead is Jang Geun Suk.
2. Goong - About Chae Gyung, a simple high school student who one day, was told that she is engaged to the Korea's crown prince.
3. Sungkyukwan Scandal - about a girl who poses as her brother and enrolls in an all-boys school in order to get money for her family. This is set in the historical Korea.
4. Iljimae -Think Robin Hood. Korean Version. Set in historical Korea again. I recommend Hong Gil Dong too if you liked this.
5. My girl - About a girl who poses as the male lead's long lost sister and slowly, they fell in love with each other.
6. My Girlfriend is a nine-tailed fox -everyone has explained it already so I'll leave this to your fate.
7. Queen Seung Dok -About Queen Seung Dok(the very first empress of Silla)'s history and her bitter love story with Yuan(or what the male lead's name is).

8. Jumong - I haven't watched it myself but many loves it. I don't know for what reason but figured I should post it too.

Ok, since I see people mentioning some korean dramas, I'll do the same.

I'm very picky when it comes to dramas and movies and I never watch things that bore me. I'm You should try watching those:

The male lead is a member of a band called SS501 from what I remember.

14.Queen Inhyun's Man http://www.dramacrazy.net/korean-drama/ ... hyuns-man/ This drama was a very pleasant surprise for me cause I NEVER expected it to be good and oh boy, how wrong I was! Although I wasn't familiar with most of the actors ( especially the lead ones/only the girl I think had a minor part in Secret Garden, forgive me if I'm mistaken) I was very impressed by their acting skills. Beautiful love story about time travel. :)
15. The Moon That Embraces the Sun http://www.dramacrazy.net/korean-drama/ ... s-the-sun/ again, I wasn't familiar with the lead cast. Beautiful fantasy historical drama. A love story that made me cry. Great acting and plot. You won't be dissapointed if you watch this.

24. Bridal Mask http://www.dramacrazy.net/korean-drama/bridal-mask/ Another epic drama ( bloody, torture, not for everyone) that I finished watching a couple of weeks ago. I found another favourite actor there. If you are planning to watch this and you've already seen Full House 2, then prepare yourself to see another face of Park Ki Woong. I also fell in love with the male lead! :D
25.IRIS http://www.dramacrazy.net/korean-drama/iris/ The first season. I heard that the second one also got released recently, but I have no ideea if i'm gonna watch it or not. IRIS 2009 was too great and I don't think that the second one is going to be better.

32. Dae Jang Geum http://www.dramacrazy.net/korean-drama/dae-jang-geum/ Old but good. Every korean drama lover knows about it. It was successful in many other countries and every episode will keep you with your eves glued on the screen. the bad thing is that it's kind of hard to find the good place where to watch it or download the episodes ( if you do find one ), please watch this! :D
33. Painter Of The Wind http://www.dramacrazy.net/korean-drama/ ... -the-wind/ Beautiful historical drama with great cast and nice plot. GENDERBENDER! I was impressed with the acting. Moon Geun Young is amazing. There is also a movie similar to this drama.
34. Yi San http://www.dramacrazy.net/korean-drama/yi-san/ Although is very long I was so impressed and excided to see the next episode that I didn't even realise when it finished. A MASTERPIECE! EVERY EPISODE, MINUTE AND SECOND WAS WORTH IT!

Now, I'm watching Level 7 Civil Servant and I'm IN LOVE!

I hope this list helps all those korean drama lovers that are searching for something good to watch. I've seen many dramas and movies ( btw, if someone wants a list of good asian movies, just ask ) and I only listed the ones that I found interesting. Since I couldn't remember them I used dramacrazy most popular list to find them. If anybody has other recommendations (korean ones) since I'm planning to take korean at college I'll be very grateful. :D

Whoa.

WHOA WHOA.

Are you an ally of justice?!

Are you into good looking Japanese guys turning into superheroes?!

Are you into super awesome special visual effects?

You need some Kamen Rider. Forty years of JUSTICE can't be wrong and if you love one series, chances are you'll be watching another. Then another. And eventually you'll be watching HOURS and HOURS of sweet costumed JUSTICE. Fourteen heroes - with almost every one of them with FIFTY 20-minute episodes. That's more then 268 hours of JUSTICE.

You may not be into it as much as I am, but at the very least, I suggest Kamen Rider W and Kamen Rider OOO for the first Kamen Rider experience. You may also be into Kamen Rider Den-O if you're into comedy. Den-O set up a lot of the trends in the more recent rider series.
