A site for poses

#1 Post by Chairrypie »

Does anyone know some sites where it would show random people doing NORMAL poses? I can't think of a pose for some character sprites and when I search up poses in images it usually shows models doing sexy poses so....yeah. I just want different types of regular standing poses and maybe others for cg events so I could use them as reference. Thanks in advance

You don't necessarily have to search with the word 'pose'. Try these: https://www.google.com.ph/search?q=mode ... Y7prQeDkwE That's just a search with 'models + sketch'. Good luck.

I tend to look on deviant art since a there are a lot of people that do stock photos for art use.

If I need a realistic reference I usually hit up http://www.gettyimages.com/. Heck, there's tons of good stock photo sites out there if you poke around Google, but Getty has a huge selection. Just search "standing" or something and then narrow it down to "1 girl," "20-25 yrs old," "vertical image," or whatever it is you wanna reference.

Honestly your best resource is images.google.com OR Magazines. Just thumb through them until you find something you like. Fashion mags and Clothing Catalogs are the best.

You might be able to find some good poses on Senshistock's deviantart which has a wide variety. There's a larger percentage of actiony poses but there's some standing around too. :)

Someone already beat me to linking SenshiStock, but another great stock account on dA is Pose Emporium: http://pose-emporium.deviantart.com/gallery/

They have a loooot of stock aggregated from quite a few accounts, and it's pretty well organised depending on what kind of a pose you're looking for, how many characters you want in it, etc.

Plus there's a lot of good male stock here: http://drunkhobo-stock.deviantart.com/gallery/ that ranges from standing around to dynamic action poses.

I second the posemaniacs recommendation. What I do a lot is actually try the pose out for myself in front of a mirror. It's a bit like acting, actually. studying people in everyday life (like looking at people waiting for a train) is also helpful in building a mental library of poses which make sense, but unless you carry a sketch book around (and some do!) it's hard to draw from that.
