Vsiual Novel Recommendation

#1 Post by Parisa »

Hi. I've recently taken an interest in visual novels, usually otome. I hope you can recommend some good visual novels. I live where I can't buy them, so please recommend free ones.
Thank you all in advance.

I have already played these:
Summer found me
(P)lanets
Summer paradise
Rei
Days of divine
Duplicity
Heartful chance
Re:alistair
Fantasia- The Realm of Thanos
Signed-x
Duplicity

Re:Alistair
Fantasia: Requiem of the Abyss
Frozen Essence (a bit darker than most otome games)
(P)lanets
a2 ~a due~
Days of Divine
Line of Heroes
Memoirs of an Angel (currently being remade, but you can still get the original)
Re: Prince of Nigeria (not exactly otome, but silly)
Rouge Cafe (online, the password system can be a bit annoying)
Pacthesis Dating Sims (online)
Heartstring Bugs
Dusk ~A Moonlight Romance~ (short twilight parady)
Get Dumped (I liked the last ending, but it could be potentially disappointing)
A Troll's Fairy Tale
Nanolife (cute, although it's not otome)
Re:Set Episodes 1 & 2 (They're currently being redone)
Doppelgänger: Dawn of the Inverted Souls (I understand that this is more horror than romance though)
Legend of the Piper Girl (not otome, has hidden object elements)

If you're patient, these ones are free if you're willing to wait because of the energy systems
My Candy Love (online)
Star Project (online)
Be My Princess/ My Sweet Bodyguard/ Celebrity Darling For Gree (requires Mobile, not sure if it's available everywhere)

Also, Adrift isn't otome, but it's probably worth looking into if you don't mind dying a lot.

There's probably more, but that's all I've got for now. Hopes this helps a little.

I've enjoyed a good number of freeware games and VNs, and I have found them to be a good way to reduce the amount of money I spend. However, if you can afford to spend a modest amount of money, and if you're willing to try small press / independent games, then read on. All the ones I will mention below do not cost much, are worksafe (might get a PG or PG13 movie rating), and most of them were written in English. They can be purchased online, unless you live in a place with *very* restricted internet access.

Winter Wolves: Always Remember Me and Spirited Heart
Hanako Games: The Royal Trap, Date Warp, and more
Sakevisual: Flower Shop: Winter in Fairbrook
Zeiva Inc: X-Note and Train of Afterlife
Super Six-Three: Lucky Rabbit Reflex
Roseverte: Duplicity and Cafe 0 ~The Drowned Mermaid
DLSite English all-ages: Hatoful Boyfriend and Precedent Maker
Playstation Store: Hakuouki for PSP and Vita

Apart from girl x boys games, you might want to look at /vg/'s Guide to Visual Novels (image contains a small amount of NSFW content). Most of what they recommend are commercial games with professional or complete fan translations. Only a few of their recommended VNs are worksafe.

Thank you for your recommendation. It's not the internet access, the problem lies in payment method!

Yeah, I figured you must have played some of them before, but I didn't know which ones so I figured I'd mention them all to be safe. I hope you find something new that you like.

I would also suggest "The Knife of the Traitor", but maybe you've already played to it.
And "Signed X", and "Summer found me". There are available on LSF, of course!
Have a good time playing! :)
