S u m m e r [Otome, Incest]

#1 Post by kikcac »

S u m m e r
Coding, art, story by me.

As stated, the arts here belong to me, if you post them somewhere please credit me with a link to my DA: kikcac.deviantart.com.
The informations written here is really off from my idea now, I recommend checking my updates below if you're interested in my game. Thanks. :)
Old stuffs. wrote:Summary: A bored shut-in girl, originally called Falan who quitted school for a while heard a mysterious voice that changes her life. The story afterward is pretty random.

Art: Here are some drawings of the characters I made.
Image
Falan - The main protagonist. Her name will be editable, I think. She's the bored shut-in girl.
Geng - A popular idol.
Fog - A wierd kid.
There will be more characters as I go on.
Status: Starting out. Finished writting the epilogue.

Author note: Hello. It's been a while since I start a new game! I wanted to post this in the work in progress but then, when I think back, I just started out, and there is not much yet. I deleted the other post and went to here instead. I'd like to receive feedbacks from you guys. I think it will motivate me more in the process of making this game. He he.
I'm the type who make up the story as I go so the informations here are not full yet. Though, one thing I can precise, about the name of the topic, this is also a BXG game. The main girl can become a guy if she wants. And there can also be homosexual relatonships.

Question: Oh, I have a question for you guys; do you like visual novels or dating sim more? In a visual novel, do you preffer to have some mini games or just endless text? Do you like a lot of choice making or a few, or none at all?
Edit (15.08.2013): Now I'm working on a new game called S u m m e r. It's a story about a girl during her 11th grade summer vacation. And it has incest. :D It's a dating sim, by the way.

Status: Finished writting the prologue. When I realize I've finished it, I'm even surprised myself. Ha ha!

Well personally I like normal visual novels rather then dating sims- I guess having raw things to choose makes me like it more?

In the game- it would be nice to have some mini games. They're always fun to play :)

Usually, games with a lot of choices means longer vns... so YES!!!~~

Oh and btw- nice art! Falan is very pretty~

Oh my, I'd be stalking this random game :D Love the art so far~
Well, I'm OK with either VN or dating sims (as long as the stat-raising/sim thingy isn't so hard/complicate or take up too much of the gameplay >< I'm really lazy to replay the whole thing and pass all the raising to get a new ending.)
But if you can put more interaction between the MC and the characters, more romance it'll be great :)
I've tried Lucky Rabbit Reflex and Tokimeki (mini-games in tokimeki were a pain though), baking or something like that can be nice.
I'm not sure 'bout choices, like it can shape the MC's personality, affect the routes, story...etc? LOL I'm not good at the giving opinion so...

I prefer dating sims (generally because stat raising makes them longer). For mini games I guess I like puzzles, other types not so much.

This really caught my interest, the title is already quite catchy. The characters too; Fog and Falan especially, caught my attention. She doesn't look like the ordinary female character, so I hope her character won't be the same as well.

I personally would like visual novel, since I would be interested in the story itself, but maybe adding a little bit of the elements is possible too. However you would turn this into, I would still give it a play. And mini-games would make it all better!

I wish you luck!

My #1 suggestion: don't commit to writing too much! You might have a lot of plans and dreams right now. But writing can become frustrating, dull, and difficult. And checking your game for errors and consistency can be an arduous process. Therefore, I recommend focusing on the part of the story that you want to write more than any other. If you try to create too much (multiple protagonists, a large number of characters, many possible relationships and endings), then run the risk of losing interest in your game. I don't want to sound harsh, but please remember that this forum is littered with dozens of unfinished works-in-progress. You don't want your game to be just another promising one that was never completed.

If possible, give yourself a deadline - say, thirty or forty five days. See if you can commit to writing and finishing one story between July 1 and August 1. Make sure you're planning how you will use your time and energy. Back up your data often. When you're done, ask for feedback before you continue.

If you are interested in writing a story, then don't worry about creating simulation gameplay. Use only as many choices as you think you can handle. But if you want to make gameplay above all else, then focus on that, and downplay the story.

Thank you guys! I'm thrilled to have so many people commenting for me.
I see most of you like VN more and a develloped story. I though that dating sims will be more popular. Ha ha! I didn't really ask that question to change my game but more for curiosity's sake. Now I'm glad, because this is actually a VN.
I'd like to add mini-games in, but, I don't know how to make them. The only one I know and use is the basic one in Renpy's cookbook: The space shooter. If anyone knows where to find more free mini-games that could be added to Renpy's coding, please tell me.

@TsukiShima: Ha ha! I used a random name generator to make out that name. And I also don't like normal protagonists. Let's hope you'll like Falan. :)

@gekiganwing: Thank you for your support. That's a good idea to make a logic planning to make the game. I plan to make route by route, I mean, each portion of the story at a time. So that's basically what you suggest, rigth?
And about the: GXB and BXG, that's the one of the main point of this game for me. So I'll keep that.

You guys made me so happy, here is a WIP of Falan and Geng.

You don't need minigames. In fact I find they can detract from the story. One minute you're being absorbed in the tale, the next you're plunged out and forced to use a completely different mechanic, which doesn't progress the story at all, and serves just to frustrate the player. I think you're better off to just have the story. You don't need any additional bells and whistles.

Now I am curious as to how this game is LGBT and what you mean by "The main girl can become a guy if she wants."

I like dating sims much more than VNs and I agree that mini games are often frustrating, because they are either too simple and not interesting or too difficult and I hate it when you have to play some stupid mini game for hours just to get the next scene.

It's been a while so I decide to make some updates.
Since I started this game thinking: Oh I wanna make an otome game. With no plot, idea or anything. There has been quite a lot of changes.

The name of the game will be M i s s. It's gonna be a dating sim, I don't know for others but it seems easier to me to make a dating sim. Ha ha!

And the character desing in the first post are not in the game anymore.

And there might not be the part where the girl turns into a guy because it might be too complicated.

And here are some sketches, it was actually the main reason why I make this post. :)

I'm so happy I finished linearting the cover of this game so here it is.
Man, I never liked lineart but this time it felt really smooth. :)

So here is the main cast.
I'm sure this will be the official one because I've worked on their solid story already.
I'll make a proper introduction for them later.
Have a nice day!
Have to go cook dinner now.

The lineart for the cover looks great, but it's a pity we don't get to see the kitty anymore(

@Katta: Oh, now that you mention the cat! It made me want to add him in somewhere... Ah no, actually, there is already a cat in this story. One of those guys is a cat. Guess who? ;D

I see that the information on the first post is off, I'll fix it soon.
Anyways, another question for you guys: how do you feel playing an otome game? Do you feel like the main girl or a reader reading a story? Or what?

I guess that depends on the personality of the MC, if it's non-existent/based on choices, then like the girl, if the MC has a strong personality of her own or acts too silly no matter what you choose, then like a reader

I've been re-doing the game a lot lately.
It's not even the same game as before, but I don't feel like opening a new topic so I decide to post it here. This is the character design of my new game. Since I drew it on computer and it looks good, I want to share. :)

This is a pretty much simple dating sim game with 3 romantic characters. It's about summer vacation, since it's summer vacation. Ha ha!
There's incest in this story. I'd really like to create a new topic in the work in process soon and also to complete this game.
