Re: Art Dumpage! Show your art ^^
@MaiMai: Those tree trunks look really nice. The shading on the leaves makes it look like the light is hitting them from the direction of the viewer, whereas the trunks look like it's coming in at an angle from the left. I assume the hills and water in the distance have only had base colours applied so far? They'd look nice with some shading, though you probably already know that

Oh, you're right about the leaves. I should probably fix them up so that the lighting comes from the left. And yes, the hills and water aren't done yet, trying to figure those out as well. Problem solving if you will.Tempus wrote:@MaiMai: Those tree trunks look really nice. @MaiMai:
- If you can, make a layer of leaves that's slightly darker and behind both the tree leaves and the trunk. Would add more depth, because it mainly looks like it only has leaves in the front at the moment.
- The slight piece of land to the right (darkish purple) could be a little bit lighter in color, imo. Just saying before you add more detail to it.
- The leaves look neato!
- I think there would be a much more smoother transition if you added a light green airbrush over the ground, where the grass and dirt separate. Or, you could just add more detail to it, or do both! I don't really know what would look better at the moment.
- Tree trunks look a little bit too detailed, but it'll look fine if you keep addin on more detail everywhere.
- The guy's neck is too long.
Gogogo. :O

Thanks, choco, knew I could count on you! Fixed the guy's neck, thanks for catching that for me. Tall people don't need giraffe necks haha. Will probably take care of environment bg tomorrow. I actually worked on the other piece of land already, and lightened that up before working in on it with grass.chocojax wrote:@MaiMai:

I'm a bit stressed out at the moment. I was hoping that a quick 5 min doodle on photoshop would calm me down. It has a little.

And finished. Can't say how many hours it took me exactly, I'm willing to bet somewhere around 15-20 hours? I spent a few hours over the week on it. Still, this is very liberating, being able to paint a background and characters to go with it. I'm gonna work on more pictures like this.

Working on a free sprite pack. I'm hoping to make up to 3 characters in the pack with multiple expressions. All I ask is to credit my deviantart account. c : Anyone know a good size for character sprites, waist up and shoulders up, in Renpy?

Re: Art Dumpage! Show your art ^^
@GuraGuraMan: I think her right arm looks a little wider than her left, pretty much my fault. As for the guy's body, I can't say I see an immediate problem besides some stylization making it broader than it needs to be. Also I definitely got lazy shading his shirt.
In any case, I've spent enough time on that pic, it's finished. Time to move onto other things.
