Romance Urban, First Edition (updated info)

#1 Post by ibr_remote »

Revised: I believe this is technically called a KINETIC Novel.

My first Visual Novel Otome Game is available for free play. It was created using Ren'Py.
Information, video preview play-throughs, and link at my blog:
http://my-visual-novel-otome-games.blogspot.sg/
I will centralise information about my own creations there, rather than across my other blogs in the internet-verse.

I hope I am posting in the correct forum for this sort of thing.

As advised, I'm adding a little overview of the game:

This is a G x B game.

"Erica Lin is a young junior executive working in the media industry of a top-tier global city in the East. She is 21-22 years old, and also studies part-time at the local city university. She meets potential romantic partners in the young artistes at work, and fellow students at university. The story tells of how her relationships with these potential partners evolve, as she copes with work and studies."

There are at least 6 young guys who are potential romantic partners for the heroine.

For folks who like this sort of thing, please enjoy the game. Cheers.

It looks like you finished writing and coding your story, so Completed Games should be the right section.

I look for distinct visuals and styles. 3D art is one of many art options, and it seems appropriate for media where there's a lot of non-human characters. However, in my opinion, it tends to give human characters a too-realistic and not-quite-human appearance. This uncanny valley problem is common with CGI graphics. It can also happen with 2D art of robotic and hybrid species characters, especially if the person is using an art style that's relatively realistic.

@ibr_remote,
I see you've been a member here since 2008, but this is your first post. Congratulations on making a VN using 3D graphics! I'm downloading it now.
You've obviously been around long enough to know many folks here refuse to play a VN made with 3D graphics. I salute you for having the courage to make your VN with 3D art anyway.

:D
Some of my visual novels are at http://www.the-new-lagoon.com. They are NSFW
Poorly done hand-drawn art is still poorly done art. Be a Poser (or better yet, use DAZ Studio 3D) - dare to be different.

Hi, and thanks for reading my post. Yeah, it is photorealistic but not quite realistic art, more like in games of a different genre. But the target audience is very specific and the story is especially for Otomes.

You might want to edit your first post and mention that it is an G x B game, a little information about the main character, and how many young men are potential romances for Erika.
I hope you get lots of downloads.

About how many endings would you say this game has?

Just one. I have a plan to expand the range of games based on the same characters. So, this is like the first part. It does conclude logically.

I finished one play-through last night. The 3D rendering is better than mine was when I started, and certainly better than some hand drawn art.
I was a bit unhappy with the ending. I played for quite a while hoping to see Erika pick somebody, based on the decisions I made. I was disappointed in that the game did not end with her selecting someone. Basically the choices I made didn't matter.

. Yes, that is the free First Edition version. I am coding the weighted decision version and testing.

And thanks for your encouraging comments. I am glad for your feedback.

Hi, Everyone !

I apologise for the technically inappropriate classification of my story. It should be called a Kinetic Novel.

Thanks for your patience and understanding. This is my first release.

Regarding the spelling errors, it's often a good idea to ask a friend to go through the VN with you before releasing it to the world.
