um uncle mugen.. this might be a weird question but what do you call that happy guitar background melody of your video? I would like to use something similar in my game but I cant find the sound anywhere. It sounds so happy and cute lol

Maybe someone already requested this, but maybe a kind of science/research lab? That might be a little complicated >.>

Car animation does look good, although a major animation like that might look out of place for your average VN background. Personally I like small animations that don't take away too much from the dialogue work the best for those BGs. Stuff like wind blowing through the trees, though I'm sure that'd be a lot more difficult to animate and make look good.

Great to hear! I'm having mixed results here from various sources. Most of those who said it plays OK are those who have high end systems. There are some performance issues in low to low end mid systems.

Anyway, thanks for the info. This is very helpful in assessing if this whole Animated BG is possible and feasible.

To celebrate this glorious occasion, I will now start giving away "FREE ANIMATED BG'S" starting with this Street BG here :mrgreen:

Note: This is a native 1280 x 720 sized video. For best result, please make sure your game is sized at 1280 x 720

How to use:
1. Unzip and copy it into your game directory

2. Add this into your script

Code: Select all

image movie = Movie(size=(1280, 720), xpos=0, ypos=0, xanchor=0, yanchor=0)
3. To have it show in the game use it like this...

Code: Select all

label start:
    show movie 
    play movie "street_day_animated.ogv" loop #ENDLESS LOOP
4. To hide it, simply add

Code: Select all

    stop movie
    hide movie
Known issues:
1. No decent known way to have transition between two videos
2. On some lower end machine, there will be a minuscule flicker between loops

Not much to show but here's a BG featuring a prominent Filipino Culture Breakfast Staple... TAPSILOGAN!!!

Tapsilog is basically a combination of three words...

TAP = TAPA which is basically Beef (or some unidentified critter depending on location)
SI = Sinangag or Fried-Rice
LOG = ITLOG or Egg

There are several variations of TAPSILOG depending on the first ingredient. Replace Tapa with Tocino and it becomes TOSILOG, Replace Tocino with Hotdog and it becomes HOTSILOG. In some places, the combination gets so wild you will end up with radical combinations like PAKAPLOG, PAJAPLOG and JOLOGS...

Anyway, FREE to use for whatever purpose it may serve you best. Even OK for Commercial Purposes. Modifications is A-OK and highly encouraged :D

These are so awesome Uncle Mugen. :) They're all so pretty. Haha. I want to use them for my game. *sigh*

As for the Tapsilog background, oooooh, I wish I had that when I first made Summer Paradise. Haha. I think it's a good BG for Filipino-made games... that are R-14 or something. (I see what you did there) Hahahahaha. Aww, now I wanna make another VN set in the Philippines. :( Lol. Hahaha.

Ah... the advantages of the reusable School Building... Chose random room, remove contents and toss musical instruments left and right... INSTANT MUSIC ROOM! :mrgreen:

OK here you go... oh and uh... I kinda forgot where I saved the preset I used in the previous BG you are using so I just slapped the one I currently have here and BAM!... hit render :mrgreen:
