I guess I'll go first! ^_^
Okay, I'll put myself out on a limb and go first (This was my idea, after all, so it's only fair ^_^; )
I'm a 20-year-old Japanese-American male (turning 21 in half a month - yay! ) who attends Oregon State University. I'm a Computer Science major, and I enjoy creating quirky games, writing, drawing, playing console games, and walking.
I'd like to make more anime fan friends around here, and I'd like to find a nice girlfriend, too
Friends: Don't creep me out, and you're all good
Girlfriend: I generally like the cute and smart type, but I know good girls come in all different kinds, so...
Favorite manga/anime: Rurouni Kenshin, Steel Angel Kurumi, Kare Kano, GTO (and many others! It's so hard to choose! >_<)
Favorite games: Final Fantasy, Star Ocean, and Lunar series
Have any questions? Just ask!

Hrm....
I'm a 22-year-old Chinese-American female attending Bradley University in Illinois. I'm majoring in International Studies and minoring in East Asian Studies (although I would much rather be majoring in Japanese, but they don't offer it here...) and I'll be getting my BA in what looks like December of 2005. (After 5 1/2 years of college... ouch.)
I USED to major in Computer Science, but then I found out that I what I know about computers amounts to just about nothing... not to mention the way the job market is looking now... What I REALLY want to do when I finish school is become a Japanese/English translator. Once I finish with school, I'll be applying for the JET (Japan Exchange in Teaching) program, and once my contract with them is up, I'll be heading to grad school for my Japanese degree.
My biggest hobby is collecting and playing import video games from Japan. Right now, I've been limiting myself to Konami's Tokimeki Memorial series (especially the Girl's Side related games,) but there are a lot more titles in this genre that I would like to eventually buy. I also collect manga in both Japanese and English (mainly shoujo titles) and video games in general (as for English stuff, mainly console RPGs) as well as dolls (my doll collection isn't very large, though.)
I suppose I'm looking for a boyfriend... and more friends in general... but I really haven't made it a huge priority in my life or anything like that. I've only ever had one ex-boyfriend who I haven't spoken to for over a year now. I'm too embarrassed to list traits that I look for in guys right now, though. As for friends.... just someone to talk to about manga and anime will do, although if you want to talk about Tokimeki Memorial (or listen to me go on for HOURS about the series) that's a big plus in my book. I also might end up whining about school in conversation.
Favorite Manga/Anime: Fushigi Yuugi, Kareshi Kanojo no Jijyo, Fruits Basket, Hoshi no Koe... I like a LOT of different series.... but these are the ones that really tugged at my heartstrings.
Favorite Games: Tokimeki Memorial series (ESPECIALLY Girl's Side,) Final Fantasy Series
Favorite J-pop/rock artists: L'Arc en Ciel, B'z, Porno Graffiti
Currently playing: Albert Odyssey: The Legend of Eldean (Sega Saturn)
Dragon Quest II (GBC)~finished, just leveling up
Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side (PS2)
Tokimeki Memorial~Densetsu no Ki no Shita De (Super Famicom)
Tales of Phantasia (Super Famicom--Emulator)
(Yeah, I'm in the middle of a lot of games.)

Blatantly stealing BL's profile concept:
I'm a 30-year-old male German who fancies himself as some sort of semi-pro writer, even though he has published nothing but one short story within an anthology and the Germany sourcebook for the old White Wolf RPG "Changeling: The Dreaming". Currently trying to find a publisher for a mid-size novel - a thriller set in moder Tokyo.
To pay the bills, feed my cats and because I see it as social work, I own and run a second-hand shop for kids' clothing. Hardly pays the rent, but it leaves me a lot of time. It's not the job I've dreamt about, though... I'm a failed student (English and Politics major) and would have loved to go into journalism. As compensation, I write for two anime review sites (http://www.anime-wave.de is my main project, and there's also http://www.amgreviews.com, where I'm one of many writers).
I love anime (well... who here doesn't?) and most visual novels where the H part is significantly lower than the story part. Aside from that, hentai anime and manga is fine with me. And no, I'm NOT telling which wacky fetishes I'm into ^_^
Friends: Don't call me names, don't make fun of my hobbies, and if I'm starting to talk too much, please interrupt me and tell me. I tend to wisecrack sometimes.
Girlfriend: I'm into intelligent girls who like to talk much and who have a mind of their own. They should be open-minded, and if they have anything unusual that draws my attention, even better. I'm the curious type ^^
Favorite manga/anime: KareKano, Fruits Basket, Grave of the Fireflies, Whisper of the Heart (heck, most Ghiblis)
Favorite games: Old SNES RPGs (FF6, Lufia, Secret of Mana...), Tokimeki Memorial, Kana: Little Sister, Ultima Online

Hmm, I'm applying to JET as well (at least, if my references will get back to me) - don't speak any Japanese aside from what I've picked up in martial arts and the copious anime I've seen, though (and the occasional peek at gaijin-wear at Jbox.com ). I suppose the main reason I'm applying is to get a shot at living in Kyoto, since I want to train there.Mari-chan wrote:Hrm....

I guess since I responded to something, I might as well post some personal data here, even though I'm not really trying to make any connections:

Physics major.
I suppose that's probably enough to turn anyone off
Kyra: "You can kiss my acetabulum!"
Lord Pathos: "Hmm, tempting offer, coming from a cute girl like you."
Kyra: "Ug, I think I'm gonna be sick. Tom, let's get this quy, quick!"

Another "all about me" entry
I might as well mention some things about myself, since I plan to post more things on this forum as I get working on my fangame again...
My stats: male, 26. Half Scottish, half German, all dork. Currently living near Chicago.
Right now I'm sort of enjoying the post-college life. I'm enduring an adequate "first real job," and hoping to move on to better things in 2005. Not sure just where. That and working on some personal quirks, striving to have a coherent worldview, reinventing my social life, and wondering when I should begin living on my own. Hopefully not too much longer.
I've been in anime (and later, manga) fandom for several years ago - just a few years after the SNES died and I nearly gave up on my hopes for good games. (But the PS1 eventually renewed my hopes!) My anime fandom adventures started out on a good foot with some comedies, and I've hardly looked back. I've found enough good things that I am currently introducing a coworker to the world of Good Series Not on Cartoon Network.
Discovered bishoujo games just three years back thanks to recommendations on Animetric. Found a few mediocre ones, but after playing Kana and Heart de Roommate, I know why I've stayed with this fandom.
Anyway, thanks to all for rebuilding the Lemma site, and for adding this section to the forums. So says The Taiyaki Fan.

My turn
Guess I'll go next
I'm a 30 year old guy living in a suburb of Salem, OR <most people have never heard of Monmouth> looking to, at some point and time, have a career in computers somehow - fixing them or programming them. Seem to have more interest than skill though...
I currently work as a caregiver trying to get a second job so that I can pay all the bills and then have something left other. I have an interest in most video games <see my post on FF> and enjoy helping others solve problems. I also have a fair amount of fantasy paraphanelia.
Friends: Pretty easygoing, so it doesn't take too much for me to be a friend =)
Girlfriend: ummmmm.....if you see my guestbook post, I'm a shy guy so don't have a girlfriend. Would be nice but whenever I have the opportunity to ask a lady out...I get nervous and tonguetied. Think I'm looking more for a female friend who shares interests with me than a girlfriend at this point.
I would LOVE to meet someone - male or female - who has the skills to help me get the skills I need to get working on the computers a reality...I have a *Beginning Programming* book and a *A+ certification* book but only understand about half of both of them
Games: Most of the older RPGs - FF6, Secret of Mana, Lufia 1, Lufia 2, the Dragon Warrior series <I had a NES and used to have most RPGs on it!>
Anime/Manga - lessee...Ramna 1/2, Tenchi Muyo, Fatal Fury

A friend is one that walks in when the world walks out.
A new one here.
23 years old italian male. Studing a IT university, just began, I worked before.
Friends.... mmmnh... Being a lonely person I have no problems accepting everyone.
Girlfriends.... I had one, but she dropped me leaving my heart broken. So I'd like finding an other one. Of course a person that likes Anime and IT would be great.
A part of IT I like mountains and trekking. I like also skiing but I am not good at it.
Games... Lately I play only a little. And I play Gate88 ( http://queasygames.com/gate88/ ) and "Shoujo Attack" that I just discovered but I think is great. Thanks Blue Lemma.
Manga/Anime... anime very few. I mainly read mangas. ATM my favourite are probably "Wedding peach" and "Berserk" that recently rebegan from beggining here in italy, also all Hojo mangas are great, his newest manga Angel Heart is really nice. Time ago I liked also Ruroni Kenshin, but after the 'mummy' guy death it become worse and worse, I liked the part in the Kenshin past anyway.

Woot
Well, since I plan on being here a while, I might as well introduce myself.
My name is Scott Miller, I'm a 17 year old male, I live in Las Vegas and plan on going to UNLV when school starts back up (I graduated early, thanks to Independent Study.) I plan on majoring in either Comp Sci or Creative Writing. I've always been really interested in Architectural Engineering, but I'm terrible at it in spite of taking several classes...
Friends: I haven't seen any of my old California friends for about a year, and I haven't met any here due to me not being fully comfortable during my short time actually going to the school here. But mainly I get along with everybody, as even though my clique back in Cali was a nerdy, rather unpopular group, I was one of the better known sophomores (transferred to an Independent Study program my junior year, then moved to Vegas halfway through that year.)
Girlfriend: Nope, not yet. Haven't even kissed a girl. I never had any shyness when talking to girls, even ones I liked, I just never got around to asking any of them out, and not due to fear of ruining a friendship, it was more along the lines of I just kept forgetting to ask. Oh well, I have very positive memories of the girls from my school with very few negatives of the ones that were my friends, and even the ones that I didn't really get along with (bad memories are pretty much only of drug users...), so I suppose that's good enough.
Favorite manga: Kimagure Orange Road, Hana Kimi, Chobits
Favorite anime: Boys Be, Gunparade March, Gundam X (The ending was kinda weak, but meh, it was cancelled 10 eps before the planned end), Detective Academy Q
Favorite games: Final Fantasy VI (6, I've preferred the even numbered releases much more than the equivalent [+ or -1] odd, as they seem to have more in depth character development, and better romance.), Dragon Warrior IV (4), Privateer, KOTOR
