Interesting update. If they made decent money from Episode 1, why do they need so much more?

The purpose of this Kickstarter is to fund the remaining two episodes (we had originally planned for five, but decided to scale back to have a more reasonable goal).
And they didn't make decent money from Episode One.
However, Dysfunctional Systems: Learning to Manage Chaos has not really been a financial success. This is largely because we priced it too low, and were forced to continually give deep discounts in order to promote it and attract attention. This left us without enough funds to make the next episode as planned.

The game got a startlingly good reception and we actually made a decent profit. It was unbelievable. Like, I literally thought I was dreaming when I read the announcement. Regrettably, the profit wasn't enough. We needed way more cash if we wanted to survive, let alone develop actual sequels.
If profit is being used correctly here, then they must have had some nice overflow, especially if most of the team members were apparently volunteers. Or were they getting paid? Can't they just hire Doomfest again? Really loved the UI in the games he worked on, and I like how his character design is so effective.

Doomfest's art was great, but I'm glad to see that the new artist is more than flexible with the current style. I'd even say the characters seem to have more life and energy in their expressions than the previous...

I agree, they look a lot more expressive than the sprites in EP1. A few anatomical mistakes here and there, but eh, it's concept art, and it's not like we don't make mistakes during that stage.

I'm glad to see that they're already halfway to their goal, though! Keep on truckin', guys.

(It does bother me a little bit though when people draw blush lines to the opposite of where the cheek plane is facing. I've always wondered if anyone else felt the same!)

Hugely improved. All he needed to do really is make the characters faces and expressions a bit more subtle, and the colors a bit more neutral I'd say.

@chocojax - whoa I never thought of drawing blush lines along the cheek planes, it makes sense! And now that you mention it, it does bother me... a bit ^^

I'm really liking the new expression chart. The current artist's art style is more expressive than Doomfest's tbh, but still Doomfest's style is very good and unique. Honestly, I'd want to see the new artist do more creative freedom. I'm not saying he should ditch the current design and do something entirely different but putting some of his own touches here and there. But that's just me :)

I honestly think the new artist is shaping up to be much more pleasant than Doomfest's art to me.

I think they're still able to make it. There are usually a rush of donations near the end ^^

They should breakthrough easily. They're on a pretty nice path. :)

That art is beautiful. I really like it when artists use soft/pastel type colours. I have no idea how to explain that... hopefully people understand what I mean.

Very happy for them in reaching their target. What an achievement!
Quite possibly a spider.
