A Child Summoner For Moloch
Rating:
Teen - strong language and violent imagery
Format:
Kinetic Novel
Setting:
Fictional setting, Japan
Plot:
In the 1940s, a Japanese scientist developed the technology to grow trees the size of cities. Eight of these trees were bound together to form the island of Atlantis, locally known as Atoran. The technology was never used again, but the life and energy pulsating through the living island has attracted the supernatural in a big way...
Tarou Yamada is a concerned citizen who has become very concerned about the recent string of missing children in his neighborhood, as well as the inexplicable ineptitude of the police force. He takes it upon himself to look through all possible venues - including the occult, and a magician named Magus Arway.
With the help of Arway's demonic contacts and Yamada's grain-of-salt assistance, they go on the hunt for the missing children, and the kidnapper.
Characters:
TAROU YAMADA
Protagonist. 25 years old. He doesn't seem overly concerned with how nondescript he is, and has a remarkably meek personality. He's extremely present-minded, which leads to some impulsive decision-making...Okay, no, really, is his name seriously Tarou Yamada?
MAGUS ARWAY
Focus. 15-year-old magical prodigy, or something. He's got a pretty blasé attitude, and a knack for playing his customers. Talking about his past seems to be the only way to get him nervous. All-around kind of an asshole, but he's good at what he does.
Kanu, Kiva, Hachirou, Yasu
Arway sure does know a lot of people.

This isn't a detective story as much as an urban fantasy thriller. It's the pilot to a multi-game series, so I'm using NaNoRenO to put me on the right track, since I'm a constant procrastinator and this is kind of a bighuge project.
