Gah, sorry for the late reply, I almost forgot someone replied here!

It's mostly in the name of the postion. The colorist colors in the artwork for the game -- sprites, CGs, backgrounds (still considering this as I'm going to work on the backgrounds). We have one colorist, though if another colorist wants to apply, we'll be happy to have one more on board to lessen the workload (read: please apply lol). We have yet to decide on a coloring style, though we're going to aim for a kind of painting feel that you see in most professional CGs nowadays. The colorist can apply even if they haven't gotten a really great, amazing coloring style since this is more of us (me and Kimi) experimenting and trying to improve. So as long as I can see that you have the potential to improve, we'll take you in and you can suffer with looking for an coloring style with us. Also, as with other positions, you'll need to have a Skype, or some form of communication to be able to talk with me. We have no set weekly minimums for the artwork yet, but once we've gotten everything figured out, it'll most likely be at least 4-5 CGs, or 3-5 sprites, or 2 backgrounds each month. The beginning of the artwork process will probably be slow, so I'm not hoping for 4-5 cgs a month, but once the colorist gets used to it, we're hoping to get around that much at least.

Hope that helps? I think I gave too much info out.

I can do some coloring/rendering, but my style doesn't sound like the style you're looking for (idk how to do the "painting" texture). =( If you need rendering for your images though (like shading or lighting) I can help with that. =)
I don't have Skype though. =/

Actually, I think I do, but it's only the chat portion, not the video chat.

Well, it's like painting digitally as if you're painting irl. 1, 2 and 3. Here are some coloring styles we thought of trying to emulate but mostly we're trying to look for a coloring style that we're both happy with and looks professional at the same time. And rendering? Do you mean like with 3D stuff like sketchup or something?

Ah, this style's not too bad! I think I could pull it off. =D
I thought you meant like super water-colory, like this: http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/origi ... 1c3aef.jpg
Or this: http://animewriter.files.wordpress.com/ ... rcolor.jpg
Or this: http://www.advancedanime.com/pictures/n ... _ouran.jpg
I think you get my point. It's like, using super light, watery colors is kind of a problem for me because I'm used to doing dramatic sketches using lots of shading and dark strokes. =/

And lol, no not 3D stuff (I'm not that much of an expert xD). I meant like adding shading and lighting to 2D characters, like this: http://fc09.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2012/ ... 4pn6rt.png
Except this one wasn't that bad to start with. I have some personal work I could send you if you want to see, but idk how to attach them on LSF. =(

Ah, no, not like that ofc. We're just going for a digital painting kind of thing, it's really hard to explain but once I see it, I'll know it. Oh, well, you can link it to me if you have a deviantart? Or link me to the samples if you can please.

I uploaded them on an image site. The pics expire after 7 days.
Here's the first one I ever attempted: http://www.tiikoni.com/tis/view/?id=82cb00e
And I've improved since then.
This is my second image: http://www.tiikoni.com/tis/view/?id=f1ab596

This third one was made for a girl here on LSF. She's working on a game and needed a colorist/renderer. I have the original black and white image too, if you need to see it. Anywho, she drew the image and sent it to me, detailing the colors and patterns she needed for the character.
http://www.tiikoni.com/tis/view/?id=e5fb1aa

I know my work's not all that fancy or anything, but I'd like to believe I'm getting better. =3 And I'd gladly take any criticism; it helps me improve and get better. =)

So basically... coloring? Sorry, I'm just confused cause I see the word render and color and just. I think I need to get out there more. And sadly, we're looking for a different style. What do you use though, a tablet or??? O . O Sorry, I'm just really confused right now as to what your work really is, if it's coloring or something else.

Ferdokki wrote:Coloring is just adding colors to line art.
Rendering is adding shading (like shadows, lighting, glares, reflections, etc) so that the image doesn't look exactly 2D and has some texture to it. Like, you're not trying to make it 3D, but you want it to be better than a regular 2D picture.

Lol, I don't think you're confused. ;) I think you think you're having trouble because your colorist probably renders and colors. Like, she integrates the rendering into the images when she colors.
I separate colorist and renderer because I used to do Photoshop stuff in the past, and a lot of my work was strictly rendering; I wasn't allowed to change the colors or whatever for the picture/logo/etc, but my job was to add glares or whatever to make it "pop-up" or something.
Hope that makes it a bit clearer.

I don't actually have a style. I just sent links of sample work I currently have on me. I'm pretty flexible and can quickly learn whatever style you're looking for. Though it seems like you've actually got the colorist position covered, so idk why i'm still rambing. >.< (sorry!)

And no, I don't use a tablet (my tablet is strictly for recreation n__n). I do all my work on laptop using Photoshop.
Ahh, if that's the cause then... Thanks but we won't need any rendering. Hahaha it's fine, we're actually open to another colorist to help lessen the workload but if we can't find one, then that's totally fine.
