Ah, that is but a mere 1/10th of the visual novel, or thereabouts. There's so much more fun and character torment development to go!
I was wondering though, won't there be at least a DEMO for this? :) I mean, Fall 2015 is a long way off... haha.
There'll be a demo in some months. :) Never fear. I want it to be a good demo. I mean, I can do a pre-production demo sooner than that, but it won't be so good, heh. ^_^

Just a short update, and more of an interest update than a progress update (although nailing down backstory can help immensely with writing):

Backstory: Alex Loughton
Backstory: Alice Loughton

I've written an article on my Alex in Wonderland blog that might be of interest to VN developers/writers here.

You know Choice of the Dragon! Yes!

Thanks for this. I may be using it as a reference in the future.

It was actually one of my first branching/interactive fiction games I experienced. :)

The ethnicities of Alex and the four main characters have been decided. Roughly speaking, they are:

Alex: half white, half (Kinh) Vietnamese; Vietnamese-identifying
The Cheshire Cat: Xhosa (South Africa)
The Knight: Dravidian (South India)
Lady Paprika: Han Chinese
The White Rabbit: British ancestry

(Note: there used to be a Red Knight and a White Knight. That there's now only one Knight should tell you about the state of Wonderland.)

hmmm interesting. Did you make up the poem of the Red King or did you find it in one of the Alice in Wonderland books or some source related to Wonderland or Alice.

Nobody's ever written about a Red King, as far as I know---neither Carroll nor anybody else inspired by his work, I mean---so this is original work Arachne's done.

The "cabbages and queens" line references Carroll's "The Walrus and the Carpenter":

The word "borograves" appears to be a reference to "borogoves" from his "Jabberwocky":

The Red King actually exists in Carroll's book. He sleeps, and dreams the world around him. Waking him up is a bad, bad idea. Killing him afterwards is also the kind of thing you'd only do if you wanted the land to never recover.
“It’s only the Red King snoring,” said Tweedledee.

“Come and look at him!” the brothers cried, and they each took one of Alice’s hands, and led her up to where the King was sleeping.
“Isn’t he a lovely sight?” said Tweedledum.

Alice couldn’t say honestly that he was. He had a tall red night-cap on, with a tassel, and he was lying crumpled up into a sort of untidy heap, and snoring loud—“fit to snore his head off!” as Tweedledum remarked.

“I’m afraid he’ll catch cold with lying on the damp grass,” said Alice, who was a very thoughtful little girl.

“He’s dreaming now,” said Tweedledee: “and what do you think he’s dreaming about?”

Alice said “Nobody can guess that.”

“Why, about you!” Tweedledee exclaimed, clapping his hands triumphantly. “And if he left off dreaming about you, where do you suppose you’d be?”

“Where I am now, of course,” said Alice.

“Not you!” Tweedledee retorted contemptuously. “You’d be nowhere. Why, you’re only a sort of thing in his dream!”

“If that there King was to wake,” added Tweedledum, “you’d go out—bang!—just like a candle!”
The poem I made up on the spot, and I misspelt borogoves ^_^

Oh, you're right!

D'oh. I need to reread my Carroll, it seems. Which book? Through the Looking-Glass, right?

I didn't want to presume you'd misspelled "borogoves." I thought that if it wasn't a misspelling, you might have turned borogoves into "borograves" because graves are creepy things.

I've been ill since the 22nd, and even though the epicenter of my PTSD for this particular period peaked on my birthday (July 28th) the tremors continue afterwards.

I know there are some in this community who blame me for continuing to have PTSD ten years after having gone through over twenty years of hell. Thus I didn't feel like posting this update. But I thought I would anyways.

Yes, the main character, Alex, suffers from PTSD, and it shows up in partial flashbacks.

If this turns you off the game, so be it.
