A newbie question... please forgive me.

#1 Post by nhguy03276 »

Hi all,

I'm new to the Ren'py engine, but have been playing with it for a couple months now. I'm also learning Python, Daz3d, Hex, trying to write, and a whole host of other things all at the same time, and am getting overwhelmed, so I beg your indulgence of this newbie question that is likely answered someplace already.

I recently came across a VN called "Common Grounds", That used Semi-Animated Sprites. A single PNG with several poses of the character, that would move over themselves when called) and it used a call line of "/load roger_wave.png 9", roger_wave.png obviously the file, and 9 being the number of "frames" in the animation sequence.

My question: I don't know what VN engine made "Common Grounds", But is something like this possible to do with Ren'py?

Thank you.

In Ren'Py you can use ATL (http://www.renpy.org/doc/html/atl.html) for this.
You can declare an image as a block of ATL animation (http://www.renpy.org/doc/html/atl.html# ... -atl-block).
Watch memory usage, though.

No, sorry! You must be mistaking me for someone else.
