I'm fairly new to using Ren'py, and scripting in general, so this maybe a stupid question with an easy answer but I've been scratching my head for the last few days over it.
So basically anytime an image goes through a transition the text box pops away. Is there away for the text box to remain up while the images do their thing?
How to keep text box up while image dissolves???

To avoid this, you might want to look into ATL and creating your own transitions. It can be as simple as this:
And then use it like this:
More on it here: http://www.renpy.org/doc/html/atl.html
Code: Select all
transform myFade:
alpha 0.0
linear 0.5 alpha 1.0
Code: Select all
show box at myFade

Actually, I think there is a simple configure variable that covers that. Let me see if I can find it.
A Close Shave:
*Last Thing Done (Aug 17): Finished coding emotions and camera for 4/10 main labels.
*Currently Doing: Coding of emotions and camera for the labels--On 5/10
*First Next thing to do: Code in all CG and special animation stuff
*Next Next thing to do: Set up film animation
*Other Thing to Do: Do SFX and Score (maybe think about eye blinks?) Check out My Clock Cookbook Recipe: http://lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/viewto ... 51&t=21978

Yeah, I think all you have to do is add "window show" to your code right after the start label.
The documentation is here:
http://www.renpy.org/doc/html/dialogue. ... management
http://www.renpy.org/doc/html/displayin ... how-window
There is a thread talking about it here:
http://lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/viewto ... sappearing
But you can also do a search for "window show" and probably come up with many more threads discussing this.

Ren'py is just so rich and full of amazing things! It is easy to forget it all!Alera wrote:I completely forgot about this solution! Thanks @trooper6 for the reminder!
