I am slowly thinking up another character for my story idea, though it didn't turn out quite how I imagined XD
Anyway, since I started trying to draw a bit mre realistically/more varied and differentiating features, I realized that I pretty much only draw girls in my own image (I guess I think of myself as god ) So since a while ago I've been practicing bit by bit some different races etc., and as I thought up this character WIP, I realized that this is actually the first time I've ever drawn a black male. So I put a bit more effort into his facial features and such than usual, and I must say I'm pretty satisfied for a first try! I don't have a complete clear idea of what his character is like yet, other than having a mostly serious, stoic persona.
(Also, sorry about the lighting, can't take a picture without casting a shadow DX)

I think that looks great! I think the beauty of art is that you can draw absolutely anything, so it's a shame that we tend to stick with what we're used to! The first five years of my art journey I only created white OCs and the most ~ diverse ~ choice I made was to give one of them red hair... Now I do my best to learn to draw all types of people.
Was sketchin' away last night to get a better idea of this guy. He's one of the characters in the VN I'm working on ;; I gave him clothes, did line art, and laid down some flats too, but I couldn't get happy with it. I struggle so much with character design, especially clothing. I just want to create really cool characters sigh.
One should never try drawing a hyena without a proper reference if the last hyena you ever saw was in the Disney Lion King movie that you watched like a few years ago :v ...yea, nopes. I'm very out of practice with animals and everything else...
He was a WIP that's since been scrapped, he came off too mean, completely missed the personality I was after, too young as well. I was going for a Hakuouki-esque style, not too far off, the colouring style is completely different though. Ignore the hands, I don't know what I was going for and then I was just being silly haha. Back to the drawing board.

The best reason to get up in the morning is to outdo yourself: to do it better than you've ever done it before. But if you haven't done it better by nightfall... look at your globe and pick a spot: it's always morning somewhere.
