Hello!

New folks often announce themselves in the Guestbook: http://lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/viewto ... start=4140
and if you want to recruit artists, you might want to advertise for them here: http://lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/viewforum.php?f=58
A Close Shave:
*Last Thing Done (Aug 17): Finished coding emotions and camera for 4/10 main labels.
*Currently Doing: Coding of emotions and camera for the labels--On 5/10
*First Next thing to do: Code in all CG and special animation stuff
*Next Next thing to do: Set up film animation
*Other Thing to Do: Do SFX and Score (maybe think about eye blinks?)

You need to advertise on the recruitment forum.
If your game is going to be free and you don't plan on paying your artist, advertise on the We are a Free Project looking for Partners
If your game is going to be commercial and you want a partnership, advertise on We are a Commercial Project looking for Partners
If you just want to commission an artists, advertise on We are offering Paid Work
You can also always browse the I am an Artist thread and see if there are any artists whose work you really like and then message them.

When you advertise your project, be sure to look at the Requirements for Recruitment threads (RULES), which is here: http://lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/viewto ... 58&t=22143

Are the majority of games people are creating Harem things? I don't play Harem games so I don't really pay attention to them. I find quite a few games to play that aren't Harems games.

Giant Bomb defines Hame games like so:
Harem
Harem is a term used to describe Japanese works wherein a single average male character is surrounded by numerous attractive females, most of whom are romantically interested in the main character.
For the purposes of this post, I'll also count reverse harems as part of the harem world.

Let me look at the last 16 completed game posts here: http://lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/viewforum.php?f=11
(These are all posts that have been updated since 13 Oct.)

Nuclear Detour--Looks to be not a Harem game.
Queen At Arms--Harem game.
Romance is Dead--Harem game.
Magical Otoge Ciel--This seems like a Harem?
Loners--Not a Harem Game.
Asphyxia--Described as a GxG game based on romantic poets...so yes? This is a Harem?
Death Rule: Fear Complex--I'm not certain, but this doesn't seem to be a harem game.
A Very Splendid Otome Game--A story about falling in love with a cake? So No Harem.
The Sad Story of Emmeline Burns--KN...so no Harem.
Out of Sight--Looks to have only two romance options...so not a Harem
Munster Academy--Only two romance options...so not a Harem.
The Merman's Captive--Only two romance options...so not a Harem.
Nicotine Guillotine--Another KN. About hoarding, not a Harem game.
That Cheap and Sacred Thing--Seems like a romance, but not a harem game...which makes sense as it is a KN not a VN.
Beretta Mondatta -- Hm...the MC has the choice of 4 different love interests (mixed gender)...but the MC is a crazed murderer not an average character. I don't think this really counts as a harem game.

So 4 or 5 out of the last 16 posts are harem games. Not the majority by any means. There are a lot of different sorts of games being made here. You can also make whatever you like!

I looked over your post.

Here are some of my thoughts:

I lot of people here don't speak Japanese. So it would be better if you could include a link to the art style you are looking for.

Kurasuki Nai wrote: -With all the content in the story the story itself could probably last for 17 - 21 Volumes
You want to make 17-21 games? That is very ambitious. Have you made any games already? What experience do you have? People might be hesitant to join your commercial project if you don't have some track record of finishing a project.

Perhaps you might want to make a free very short prologue game first? Something that lasts 10-15minutes.
Since it is short and free you might be more likely to get some volunteers to help you out for free. Then you could use as a demo to attract the people you want to work with in the commercial projects later. Having a finished game (even when it is really short) helps people feel comfortable.

ETA: Also, have you finished writing all the scripts? If you have, you should say that!
Are you going to be the programmer? If you are, you can program the finished script for your first game with temporary art and tell people you have that done. Then you can hand potential artists/editors your demo to excite them about your project.

Welcome both of your to LSF. I'd just like to point out while Harem games may be very popular in Japanese Visual Novel scenes, there is much more diversity of game types coming out of Lemmasoft. Harem games are not dominant here.

Well the story s pretty long so it take me awhile to get to the end of the story..

I never made a game before or written a light novel that just how long the story is.
I outlined everything and wrote some chapters

If you've never made a game before or written a light novel...before you do your epic 21 volume masterpiece, I recommend doing a very short 10-15minute prologue first.

You will learn a lot about the game making process, you will build some excitement for your longer project, and you will have something to show potential collaborators to give them an idea of what your big games will be like, but also to prove to them you can finish a project.

O I've made a game before but never a visual novel type game.

Same principle though; it's a good idea to finish a VN type game to show that you have a gist of the medium, and as trooper6 said, to give people an idea of what you're capable of before any collaboration can be formed.

edited bc I was being redundant oops.
