Hi,
I recently began to fall in love with visual novels, but (as for almost everything i like) when i'm really excited about something i struggle with my friend/family's language barriers and it's impossible to me share my enthusiasm with them.
I wonder if i'm the only one in the same situation...
would be translations appreciated?
are fans of visual novels only english speakers?
Have you any sort of language problem?
As a translator i'm really curious to know what do you think about it
Are translations needed?

Re: Are translations needed?
What is your native language?
The majority of visual novels are originally in Japanese. So if you are a native Japanese speaker, then you are in a great position. If you have a different native language, there might still be some visual novels available in your native language that we know about.
ETA: I just noticed your post in the Recruitment thread...which says you can translate into and out of Spanish and Italian. I don't know which is your native language (and the language of your friends and family)...but there are visual novels you can find here that have both Spanish and Italian translations. There are a lot more Spanish than Italian though, as far as I know.
What I'd recommend doing is do a search for "Spanish" or "Italian" in the Completed Works thread. You'll find stuff!

Re: Are translations needed?
i'm a languages student, i'm bilingual itlian/spanish, that's why there will always be someone in my family with language difficulties! english is an issue. it would be great for visual novel to have a menu with different language choices. why isn't this forum full of translators?

Re: Are translations needed?
Since it's hard work, and probably not something that gives a lot of fame or recognition. I think many projects would welcome translators, and then ones that aren't (except for commercial projects, where splitting money is a real issue) are probably shortsighted.Lyalicia wrote: why isn't this forum full of translators?

Re: Are translations needed?
Another Spanish translator :') I'll get to open my own thread... soon... I hope...
Yup, most translated VNs are in English. Mostly because of what Trooper6 and PyTom said, but also because VNs tend to be on the cheaper side of the commercial spectrum, and... I'm not sure if this genre has a big enough market to make it worth it, since translations can get REALLY expensive with this genre.
If you're interested in more commercial VNs with Spanish translations (Sorry, I don't know about Italian), there are some fan-made patches for Saya no Uta, 999, Tsukihime and (if I remember correctly) Fate/Stay Night. Officially translated games... I can only think about the DS Phoenix Wright games (which are also in Italian) and... nothing else, I'm afraid.
