That'd be great, thanks.

Hey we could just keep it simple and use msn XD?

MSN is the devil
Just kidding, an applet java is better because it doesn't require a client, only a net browser (though it consume lot of bandwidth depending on the features provided).
Also, who is going to host the chat server if it's on Skype or others?

...Actually, a permanent Ren'Py IRC channel would be a neat idea in the long run. I'd definitely join that (if only just to idle, because I fail like that).

I second that! The idle part too, I fail in the very same way ^D^..although that's not something to be proud of...
That and my spoken English is oh so horrible, yup!

Okay, I'm getting the feeling that more people will be comfortable with IRC, as opposed to voice chat. So we'll do that instead, and have the channel up and running on the 25th and 26th. Anyone want to suggest a network?

I'd be for IRC as opposed to voice chat for a different reason....no mic! HAD a microphone somewhere....darned if I know what happened to it....

As far as a server goes...I do belong to a couple chat servers but don';t know what the porotocol is for a new room....

I'll be attending. Friday is preferable since I have anime club stuff on Saturdays. It'll be good to talk with everyone here since I haven't gotten a chance to get to know people.

Hmmm? I don't have Skype. I only use YM.

On IRC, I've always been cloud^ on undernet (though it might be a bit crowded nowadays). We could even make an official channel, so we can park our nicks and be idle all day.

As long as its a standalone client that works with dialup, I'm good with anything.
(<-- different computers with different connection speeds here)

OT: Oh yeah, I have a bigger ipod now... I heard it can be made to work like a microphone... problem is I need to download the installer for it. It's not as easy as the ipod nano or even my cellphone which you can just dump your mp3s into. I'll have to install it at work one of these days... or else read Ipods for Dummies.

Aw man, I wished I could attend an anime club, too.

Yeah IRC sounds good. I live in Australia so I'm not sure how the time will end up, but anyway. Could someone write a dummy's guide to IRC? The dummy being me :). Thanks.

I usually recommend downloading more than just the mirc client:
http://www.sysreset.com/

Not only is it much easier to have the right settings to download anime, but you can serve them too!

Regardless, the basics are the same. Aside from using the GUI, you can just issue the following commands manually (note I haven't done this in years:

Assuming the nick is free and there actually exists an LSF channel:

Code: Select all

/nick DaFool12345
/server irc.rizon.net
/join #Lemmasoft
Hello Everyone!
Hmmm...

Code: Select all

/msg PyTom xdcc list
/msg PyTom xdcc send #35
(PyTom sets mode +b ********.***)
(You were kicked out of the channel (reason: I am not a bot!!!))
/join #Lemmasoft
(cannot join channel (address is banned))
Time to reset the ADSL modem...

As much as I'd probably prefer voice chat, opting for IRC does make it more likely that I could actually turn up. ;-)
