They look good. My eyes are drawn to the art anyways not the frame so missions accomplished in my opinionUlalaria wrote:@Zelan - Thanks so much!
@Caveat Lector - Cool! I'm pretty new to tarot reading too. My goal for the project is to deepen my knowledge of it.
Tried out an idea for the card faces today with some filler art... I'm trying to keep the "frame" around the main illustration fairly simple so it doesn't overwhelm the image.

That art is stunning, nice job! And I agree that the frame looks cool. It's nice to look at but not overly detailed.

Re: The Owl-Woman Oracle [tarot reading simulator]
Thanks for the feedback, folks! I'll probably stick with that card face design then
My writing goal for July is to finalize the 3 questions the player can ask the Owl Woman. Ideally, I think I want to them to be action-oriented questions - focused on "how" or "what is needed" to achieve a short-term goal - and broad enough to make them relateable for most players. A few of my ideas:
"What can I do to have a positive impact today?"
"What knowledge should I be seeking right now?"
"How can I feel more connected to others?"
What questions would you want to be able to ask the Owl Woman?

Those are good questions, they seem to fit your criteria of being broad and relatable. ^_^
You could also make something like "What change do I need to make to better myself?" as an option, but that could come off as a little too negative and maybe also a little too specific.

Are you still looking for questions? Because if so, then you got my help! I actually had done some fortune telling for extra scratch in high school and my early 20's.
Open-ended questions are always advised. Some of my personal favorites are (though they could be just variations of the ones you posted):
* What am I overlooking in my life right now?
* How can I have more (fun/knowledge/spirituality/connection/peace) in my life?
* What can hold me back?
* What do I need more/less of in my life?
* What is the world trying to teach me now?
* Who/what needs my influence?
* Help me make a more positive influence in the world.
The art looks great! How could an owl-woman speak though? A beak seems like it'd be hard to make English noises.

Thanks, Onomatopoeia! Those are some awesome questions. It makes me think I might eventually do "expansions" to the final game where I add more questions and maybe more cards.
Haha, I think it adds to her aura of mystery.Onomatopoeia wrote:The art looks great! How could an owl-woman speak though? A beak seems like it'd be hard to make English noises.

Re: The Owl-Woman Oracle [tarot reading simulator]
The summer was really hectic for me, but things are finally winding down, so I'm getting back to work on my personal projects.
Lately, I've finished the card back design...
...and updated the card fact frame (illustration is still filler though).
I also started writing the answer text for two of the cards recently. The first ones I plan to tackle are the Devil and the Hierophant.

For questions what about one that says "Surprise me" and pulls a random card.

Ohh, the back design is stunning! I love the moons in the center.

Haha, if I have time/energy, I'm actually considering adding a "nonsense mode" where the text of the reading is semi-randomized Mad Libs style.wyverngem wrote:For questions what about one that says "Surprise me" and pulls a random card.

I've always wanted you to make a game that was just a vehicle for your owl goddess art xD

I'm getting started on the card illustrations now, so here's a peek at the beginnings of the Devil card. (I'm doing them in no particular order)

Re: The Owl-Woman Oracle [tarot reading simulator]
Hi folks! It recently occurred to me that a lot of the cards in Owl-Woman Oracle will contain non-sexual nudity, so I'm not sure if I'll be able to post all of the cards here as I finish them, like I initially planned to.
That said, I completed the Succubus (parallel to Rider-Waite-Smith's Devil card) today! You can check it out over on my Tumblr: http://meagantrott.tumblr.com/post/1515 ... il-card-in
An aside: I’ve been looking into possibly doing a very limited print run of these as actual cards when they’re done. Given it’s majors-only, it would probably be more of a novelty than functional tarot deck, but I think it’d be fun just to have one for myself at minimum. If there are folks out there who would be interested in owning a physical deck of Owl-Woman Oracle cards, let me know! The size of the print run would be largely dependent on how much interest there is.
