Does anyone know of any gameplay heavy Ren'py games?

#1 Post by SuperbowserX »

The most gameplay heavy one I've found was Target Valentino which was pretty nice. Since they're fun to play and consider I'd be interested in knowing. What are some Ren'py games which are very gameplay heavy and really show the dynamic power of the engine (i.e. RPG games)?

Long Live the Queen was made with Renpy, that is pretty gameplay heavy.
Magical Diary is pretty standard VN...but it has 3-D dungeon crawl sections.
A Close Shave:
*Last Thing Done (Aug 17): Finished coding emotions and camera for 4/10 main labels.
*Currently Doing: Coding of emotions and camera for the labels--On 5/10

Y;N has point-and-click escape room gameplay in it, which I loved! The regular website is still down, but the dev posted download links in the thread and Facebook group.

The same developer who made Target Valentino also made Diamond Rose, which is a VN/RPG made in Ren'Py that I really liked.

I'm pretty sure Loren the Amazon Princess (turn-based RPG) was made in RenPy

Pretty sure most of Winter Wolves' games (Loren the Amazon Princess, Planet Stronghold, etc.) are made in Renpy.

The Next World by Illuminated Games is also pretty game-play heavy as a sort of colony building sim, although there's also plenty of narrative.

Also in the same boat is The Black Closet by Hanako Games (also responsible for LLTQ and Magical Diary mentioned above); plenty of traditional VN, but also quite a bit of boardgame and mystery elements.

Frankly, once you go super, super gameplay heavy, you'll probably find more Unity games (e.g., Shadowrun HK and Dragonfall are Unity, IIRC, but with robust branching narrative/conversation systems).
