Bride of the NEET God [NaNo2018] [fantasy, comedy, optional GxB]

“When I was chosen as a sacrifice to the Volcano God, I thanked a god for the first time.”

That’s what pessimistic village girl Shiyun thought, but she wasn’t expecting to actually end up in the realm of the gods! There, she meets Mao, the deity whose bride she supposedly is. The thing is, he has no interest in her, and much less in his godly duties.

That’s when Shiyun decides to do what anyone else would have done—put this useless god to work. And so start Mao’s busy days with the newest resident of his domain!

Thank you! The darker aspects, such as the consequences of Mao not doing his job, are only mentioned in passing except for the very beginning.The bulk of it is lighthearted comedy.

Hi there! Today I bring you our titular NEET god, Mao.



On the writing side, the script's currently at about 4k words. I still don't know how long it'll end up so wish me luck. Also started working on a BGM track!
Two sprites left, the next update--featuring mysterious lady Rui--should be around Friday. Please look forward to it!

As promised, here's another character. Just what could be her role in Shiyun's story?


The script's at 6.5k, I'm looking into 10k or so for the finished thing. (Hopefully) short and sweet!
I've started working on the backgrounds. So far it's seeming likely that the three or four I want will get done in time. Any possible CGs depend on how quick I can knock down the BGs.

The next update, featuring our last character--Cherin, an important ally to Shiyun--should be sometime next week. Her sprite's actually done, but I want to have more news to bring before posting. Please look forward to it!
