Re: By The Lake -- [Hiring]

#16 Post by maselphie »

Okay, the background artist positions have been filled, one slot by our own Spiralbunny. The other slot is an artist studio from DeviantArt (I love that place). A couple of BGs have been completed as an example of the quality you can expect in the game.

I am currently looking for a character artist, but I am pursuing a deal with someone at the moment. I am waiting for them to give me an estimate and take on the project.

Two music tracks have been licensed from composer Nigel Ng.

The endings have been properly defined. There are 6 ways to end the game. Two ways are to fail completely and received no "Part II" to the game. Then there is a bad ending, two good ones (based on which relationship you had with the man), and a perfect ending. The better the ending, the longer the game.

Looking good! I hope you find that music composer that you need. It looks interesting, but I already have a project, heh.

A character artist has just been signed, and has agreed to complete the game CGs as well. (Which is good, because the characters should look the same in both.)
He's a very talented artist by the nickname of Sage, here's his profile on DeviantArt. He works with an artists group, called 'd-e-w-d-r-o-p-s', but not sure how many other people will be involved.

One other song has been licensed, from composer David Flavin.
Nicol Armarfi has kindly offered his services towards the game's soundtrack, and I look forward to working with him.

Sage's art looks pretty nice. Looks like you're game is ready to be worked on.

Good luck with your project.

Sorry for not replying to your PM yet - I'm gonna read it right now. Graduation meant lots of relatives visiting and... yeah, you probably get the idea. The last one just left, so I'm free now!

Sage seems to be a great artist, I'm glad you could find someone like that to do the characters! Ah, it feels like this game might become really good... :D

Yeah, great! And on top of that, this is an otome game!

I'm using Nicol Armafi's music too, for two tracks!
I'm so tired by making (almost) all the project by myself, kururururuuu...
Script.... Characters.... Programming....
And my drawing skill is amateur, just learn how to draw with corel seven months ago...

Waah!
*sob*
(Takes handkerchief)

Anyway.
I'm looking forward for this, maselphie!
(I'll be watching the updates!!!)
Hope you'll make lots of Otome games!
Yay!

No, no, don't worry about it at all! Congrats on graduating!! Life is going to be so fun now. =)

I know how you feel! I hope you do stick it out to the end, because I'm interested in your game, too!! I love fantasy worlds -- filled with single men. xD
And yes, I will try to make more GxB games after this. You'd think romance games would be a female dominated genre ... ^^;

I just got a collaborator to help me with my story, and they've given me tons of great tips that has really improved the story.
Two minds are better than one! ^^

I just profiled all my characters, and it appears that all of the characters are fairly "old", in that they're all out of college (youngest is 24 years old). I'm sure this will alienate a large demographic who play these types of games ... ^^;; But if it helps, most them are all around the 25-30 age range, not like 40-50. xD
I think this is because the characters need to have an established past, along with an adult sense of freedom. Sorry, no high school aged people here. =(

For the "old" characters you mentioned...
Nah, they aren't that old.
I always wondering how adults think.

Psst, have you downloaded the demo? Forgive me with the grammar tough...

I'm glad they aren't too old. I guess my game is kinda directed at a jousei audience (adult female). ^^;

I have downloaded your demo, of course! I replied in your thread.

Character concept art is up! Colors may change. Again, the art is done by Sage.

Also, a fully CG'd piece of artwork has been completed by erebusnight, but please note that actual in-game character art will be cell-shaded and done by Sage.

Cover art, done by erebusnight, commission him!

3-D!

Is that the real character used in the game?
I bet they are the main characters.
Wow, this one's in my get-list game!

I just wonder will the background in 2-D or 3-D, because if it's 2-D it just felt awkward.

The characters and background will be 2D (see the main post for concepts of characters), the artwork above is just something special.
Yes, they are the main characters. ^^

Hmm, didn't notice this one before. A good one, and otome games are quite rare, so I think it needs to be improved. Oh, and nice art, by the way.
A life is a life, there's no need to rush anything.
Just sit back and relax.
But don't take too long.

Thank you. Yes, it turns out otome games are rare, which is odd, because romance novels are very popular here in America. Maybe that's the problem. Otome games would go over great in America ... maybe not so much in Japan it seems. ^^ (Girls spend too much time actually getting boys than pretending to ... xD)
