Mame v.90 full set of Roms and CHD roms (torrent)...

#1 Post by Ezzetabi »

I recently found those two torrent for downloading the whole Rom set of Mame .90 from the Bittorrent system.

A interesting advantage of this technology is that you can upgrade your collection (how to) when newer version comes out without redownloading the whole, so done the giant download the first time the most is done!

I do not know if someone actually cares, but I saw that those files are strangely uncommon and I needed much time to found them both.
So I post a copy here.

You should be advised that is a 11 Gb download for the ROMs and 20 Gb for the CHD. Yet if you have a fast connection, a big hard disk, you can keep you computer turned on and you like Mame's Rom as I do... I do not see why not. ;)

About 200 kb, rar compressed.

this would be beneficial to me IF...

A) I had a much bigger hard drive (I have 19Gb usable space :( )

and B) if I actually wanted to play more than 8Gb's worth of roms, MAME or otherwise.

If I get a bigger hard drive, though, I may look into this. since I prefer MAME32 to the MAME command line, some of the roms will be unusable, but the rest should be at least recognized...

Sorry for the slow answer, but it was a while I did not drop here...

I see your point, but about MAME vs MAME32 I'd like to say you that there are plenty of 'wrappers' for MAME that allow to use it with easy exactly as Mame32 without losing any feature.
One for all, (the one I use) http://www.mameworld.net/easymame

slow answer indeed... (looks at the "EasyMame Features" page) hmm... does it support cheats? (grabs that rusty tactical shield for a second time...)

[it is now three days since I wrote this post... hello?!? does anybody else but me actually read and respond to this?!?]

If you don't have a shield...
(looks around for something that is durable)
...well... this will have to do...
(hands darkknight his [broken] metal dance pad)
see what you can do with that.
back on topic: it looks like EasyMame is almost identical to MAME32. I wonder if the developers of EasyMame used to be on the MAME32 team... maybe it's a conspiracy!

(and it does support cheats. file>game options>misc. tab to set this for all games or right-click>game options>misc. tab for an individual game. you still need the appropriate *.dat file!)

What kind of roms?
I'd care a little bit more if they were rpgs or something.
I don't like having to download something just to find out what it's about.
( I mean ...I know MAME...tried it before...just not sure what the roms are about. lol )
