Script files disappearances?

#1 Post by isobellesophia »

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to know if the script.rpy and other files like screens, options and gui's will last longer if you haven't editted it for a long time?

Because i was a bit worried though... i saved it in my SDCard tablet, and the flash drive. Just in case the script files will turn into like a chinese code blah blah.. or perhaps the script itself WILL going back to zero.. (1 line when opened in rare cases)
Which this happened to me since i joined LSF, but i didnt asked about it.
(It was about 2-3 days, i havent editted the file.)

I hope there will be such answers to say.

In the Ren'Py section of this forum, you will find several answers to this question. Here's one of them:

It isn't really a Ren'Py issue, it's only your text editor playing tricks on you (most of the time is abandonware Editra to blame). Ren'Py creates automatically a "backups" folder on your system.

I used Editra when i lost my script file.. Does it affect Atom?
Because i think Atom and Editra are the same..
I used Atom from now on, (i dont trust Editra, most likely where people lose their game progress there.)

Does it affect Atom?
No. :)
Editra is not a virus, it's only "use-it-at-your-own-risk" abandonware.
Even good old jEdit has more features, and it's safer to use.

Ah, that is why Editra is a minding your own risk thingy, i knew it comes up with something.. but its not that Editra is the worst or anything.

For jEdit, i havent used it yet, maybe Editra and jEdit are the same, as you said, jEdit is safe to use, i would like to try jEdit sooner. ☺

Atom is too large, but its okay. (i love modern code editings. :)
