Military, war, apocalypse, dystopia...

Which of these settings do you prefer? I know they often get mixed together in a story, but which individual one are you the most interested in? Mine is definitely military, a story from the perspective of an organized armed forces, with a good dose of psychology and drama...

I'd have to say apocalypse myself.
Not a fan of war and dystopia as a setting has its limits.

I'll happily read them all, although military fiction tends to require more finesse. (This is partially because there are a sufficient number of real world parallels that, if it's not researched properly, it can feel really 'fake' to me.)

Mostly I care about the execution. Does it feel realistic? Do the societies make sense? Do the details feel believable? All require a fair amount of world building and research, I think, to not feel flimsy.
Enjoy Eidolon, my free to play game at: https://mutive.itch.io/eidolon, Minion! at: https://mutive.itch.io/minion or Epilogue at: https://mutive.itch.io/epilogue

I'm a sucker for military and war stories; perhaps part of the reason is I'm a huge history geek and love finding stories with some unique parallel. There is a delicate balance to maintain though because I've found some stories just copy-and-paste an obvious real-world history and slap on different names in lieu of making a truly unique world. Writing a good story like this can be fun, but also intensive.
