Re: Ren'Py @ Otakon 2008
Okay, so I need to get the build of Ren'Py to Otakon by the 29th. I'd like to bundle it with some additional resources:
- Character Art
- Background Art
- Short Stories
I like Chrono's ideas for story ideas. But I know that at least some fraction of the audience won't be writers, and I don't want to leave them out in the cold. If someone could write up first-person short-story versions of those ideas (Basically, prose-form VNs), I'd be in their debt.
Character and background art would be similarly useful, but I think we have people already interested in contributing character and background art. While more art would be better, writing is something we have zero of.

Re: Ren'Py @ Otakon 2008
You can tell me exactly what art resources I can work with then I can write a short script if you want.
EDIT: Or even better, you can fourm roleplay and turn that into a story.

What I'm actually looking for is less a script and more a first-person short story. Something that could easily be adapted into a script, but which would require at least a moderate amount of thinking from the adaptor.

Say- regarding the whole "carpool from NYC to Otakon" dealie, I'm planning to drive down and have two seats open in my car, if anyone needs some.

Re: Ren'Py @ Otakon 2008
Otakon stress level, rising. Rapidly. As the Otakon staff still hasn't told me when my panel is scheduled for, and the guy who first contacted me seems to have fallen off the face of the earth.
Anyway, I need to make ready a distribution to put on the Otakon computer lab computers. Ren'Py 6.6.3 is out, so we have the engine and text editor ready to go. Right now, my plan is to ship Mikan's Wendy sprite set, and Deji's Celeste set. I think I'd like a male set as well, maybe some of the girls can tell me which ones they think are good.
I think I can get background art, as well. Worse comes to worse, I can always just buy generic background art off of dlsite.
What I'd really like to include are some first-person short stories that require at most 2 female and 1 male characters, and that use reasonably generic locations. And since I'll need this real soon, let's make it a challenge, to see who can write a quick short story over this weekend. It doesn't have to be terribly long, something on the order of "The Question", or less, would be fine.
Thanks in advance, as I really would like to make a reasonable tutorial for Otakon.

Yes! I was so excited when I saw the tutorial on the Otakon schedule! I will definitely be there (it's been forever since I've played with RenPy).
Have you already submitted the build, Tom? If not, I have some short stories/writing prompts to offer...

Re: Ren'Py @ Otakon 2008
Hmmm.... I'm not going (not enough funds, sorry) but I couldn't help looking for the page on the official site that displays the activities.
I'm a bit jealous all of you get so much activities! In France we have our "main" convention too, but it's nothing to compare with this (gyaa look at the panel 1 on friday at 5pm-6pm! It's about Falcom!).
So to all those that are going, rendez-vous au Workshop 3 (Room 327-329) from 1pm on friday!
Cheers Pytom-sensei ! Good luck !
(you can even watch the Olympics Opening if you have the gear)

Got any photos / pics / diary-entries from the event?
Re: Ren'Py @ Otakon 2008
Didn't we get a picture of a bunch of us in front of the "1993 Re-enactment" sign about no Internet?

Welcome... I swear, we're not as crazy as we look.
That said, I hope the panel was a success. :3

It's no rush, Pytom.
@Samu: Don't worry, I've seen crazier and even more niche forums before. I think the panel went pretty well. I mean... I was kind of near the back, so I dunno how well some of the other people did, but a few got working snippets. I certainly learned from it.
