Your general opinion about Photo Sketch software?

#1 Post by plastiekk »

A friend pointed me to this Photo to Sketch software and I wanted to get your general opinion on it. Is it okay to use this? I mean, with a few clicks and a Photoshop filter/effect you can create an almost completely different work.
Here is an example.

I got this picture from the homepage: https://www.toureiffel.paris/en

Step 1: Create a sketch of it (only 2 clicks and about 30 seconds calculation, done.)

Step2: Use a photoshop effect and create a new artistic work.

I have intentionally changed only a little bit, if you would do it excessively no one would notice it seriously.
What do you think?

There's nothing wrong with using photos as backgrounds and using filters for artistic effect. Of course, there's always the issue of copyrights.

The makers of the famous Higurashi visual novel used filtered photos as backgrounds (the original version, remakes used drawn backgrounds).

There should be no issue with filtered backgrounds as long as the images you source them from don't have a "no derivatives" license.

Sometimes the effect suits well.
