[OPEN] [FREE] Queer Retelling of The Little Mermaid: Recruiting for Monstrous Desires VN Jam

#1 Post by sparklinghorizon »

Edit 03/27/2024: The music composer and editor roles have been filled!
Edit 03/31/2024: The CG artist role has been filled!
Edit 04/02/2024: The sprite artist role has been filled!
Edit 04/19/2024: The background artist role has been filled!

Sparkling Horizon Studios is now developing a Romantic Tragedy visual novel based on Hans Christian Andersen's The Little Mermaid.

To The Wayside is a queer retelling of the original The Little Mermaid. The catch is that the "mermaid" is a leech-inspired monster and the romance is a love triangle that is actually a triangle. General themes of the game include: acceptance, identity, dreams, and sacrifice. It'll have three potential endings.

Roles we're looking to fill are:
- Writer
- Editor
- Sprite Artist
- CG Artist
- Background Artist
- Music Composer

We already have a programmer, and we'll be balancing management, art direction, narrative design, GUI, and SFX ourselves. We're trying to keep this team separate from the Arkhure to Atlas one, so participating in this jam won't interfere with our existing project's development. However, if any of the remaining roles aren't filled by the time the jam approaches, our system will step in to finish whatever else is necessary.

Anyone interested in the project may message us here, @thehorizons on Discord, or in an email to sparklinghorizonstudios@gmail.com. We'd appreciate if you would send samples of your work or past projects you've been a part of when you reach out. You're welcome to ask us any questions you have about the project, too!

Thank you all for your time. Let's make a great game together!
