Greetings, travelers!

I hope you've all had a grand ol' end of 2023. Here at Supersize My Heart, we've been hard at work as ever to put the final pieces of this dang ol' game together. As creators, we've gone back to the true talent, our artists, to put some new CGs, sprites, images and backgrounds together for us so Supersize My Heart is a smooth experience for everyone as possible.

We were originally intending to hit content complete by this month, which we definitely could have -- but we took a second look at the attention we spent on potential romance routes and found there was one we had neglected. We decided to add a CG to that route, and to even it out, add another CG to each player route, and took the opportunity to add two to the epilogue for a total of 6 new CGs.

At any rate, here's the skinny:

Heyo! What's up, everybody!

This isn't an official update post, just wanted to say: dang, y'all! We're getting 100+ hits on this page per day lately, sometimes 150-ish. Thank you all so, so much for your interest in Supersize, and for those who've been following for a while: thank you for your unending patience! We're still chugging away. 2 more CGs to knock out, 1 more background, and lots more fancy anime-esque food images, and the last bits of the rewrites. Everything in game is feeling *very* good - we've never been happier about the way it plays. The save game system seems to have broken itself, so we do need to fix that, and one nasty UI bug. In a couple months, I think we'll be ready for the QA pass to begin. If anyone wants to participate, please leave a comment or hit me up! That'll be our last step before launching.

What's fresh, Crew Members!

This year is flying by! Hard to believe it's already almost June! We've still been hard at work on Supersize - since our last non-official update, we've finished up the very last CGs (for the last time this time, no more additions), done a revamp of the map system, a revamp of the UI, fixed the as-of-last-post broken Save System, written dozens of new scenes, added a new track to the soundtrack and gotten another dozen/two dozen or so pieces of assorted art to be spliced into the game. So thank you so, so much to everyone who's still showing interest in the project - we just hit 70k views on this page, so...WOW!

What's the future look like for Supersize My Heart? Expect an actual, official with-pictures-and-stuff update within the month, in time for the FOUR YEAR ANNIVERSARY of our working on the game (that's just insane; can't believe it takes this long to make a game). It's looking like this next update will be our official Gameplay Complete update, so that's gonna be wild! Gonna be a wild celebration over on our end. Looking forward to sharing more info will y'all then.

Happy June 2024!

We're official halfway through 2024, and to mark that momentous occasion, we're making a momentous announcement of our own: Supersize My Heart! is officially Content Complete!

What does that mean? It means all writing and assets needed to release the game are finished. We might throw in a few extra surprises for fun, but for all intents are purposes, we're at the end. Except for editing, polish and edge-case testing, the game is finished. All routes are playable and the game could be sat down by anyone and completed in its entirety.

Over the last six and a half months, we decided to go back and do a major overhaul on nearly every aspect of Supersize My Heart!'s writing, a truly colossal effort that has eaten up just about all of my free time. Even surviving scenes have been completely rewritten. Because of these changes, some features mentioned in previous posts - such as love languages and choices inside individual romance routes - are no longer present in the finished version of the game. The way the game now flows, you begin on the Common path, make decisions over the course of nine in-game days, before you're moved to one of five routes. At that point, there are no more choices and the game becomes more like a Kinetic novel for the romance routes. The gameplay portion of Supersize is the Common Route.

Supersize My Heart! features:

Dozens of choices made across a 3+ hour long Common route
5 distinct romance routes with stand-alone narratives
Overarching plot that connects all routes
Over a dozen main characters, with a zany supporting cast
Vibrant part cartoon/part manga inspired art
A gorgeous island-inspired soundtrack
An epilogue route to hang out with the friends you made along the way!
'Express' system to bypass the Common Route to get straight to the romance*

What's next? Editing, editing, editing! Then, it's off for a QA pass. And then, folks -- it's finally done.

Order up! We are officially one month from release! Supersize My Heart, the premier fast food mascot dating simulator, releases December 5, 2024.

It has been a long road - some might even say TOO long - but we're finally here. Through all the set backs, the re-writes, the financial madness, the personal challenges, for myself and the team, I'm so incredibly happy to see the finish line finally in sight. I'll have more to say once the game officially releases, but for now:

If you're reading this, thank you. I hope we don't let you down, and I hope you enjoy playing Supersize My Heart as much as I've enjoyed making it. Friends, family, here we are.

I can't put to words how happy I am to say that Supersize My Heart is finally out and available right now on Steam!

Reflecting back, it's been such a long road. I don't wanna get overly sappy, but good grief, it's so weird making games. I started Supersize after a joke made in passing, after playing I Love You, Colonel Sanders! for the first time, wondering what it would be like if they'd really gone all out on the dating sim concept. Over the years, our plans changed time and time again - we lost progress, switched engines, had to rewrite the whole thing multiple times. Some of the people working on the game lost homes, lost friends, lost family, along with all kinds of other stuff I won't put here. Now here we are, four years later, and it's time to say goodbye to the project that's gotten me through some of the hardest periods of my life. As I struggled through the horror of losing my best friend, through my battles with addiction, health difficulties of all different stripes - now, badda bing, badda boom - time to let it go and send it out in the world. And heck, maybe it's going to get absolutely ripped to pieces in the reviews, haha.

But it's time. I'm so grateful to everyone who worked on this game, and everyone that's checked in on us over the years. Sorry it took so long. There were complications, lol, like there always are. I hope you find something to love in Supersize. This is the last post I'll be making here in WiP - time to close up shop. Hello again, everybody! Elijah here.

February's been a great month for Supersize My Heart, and I seriously can't put to words how much I've enjoyed watching people play the game on YouTube and Twitch for this, the most romantic month of the year. Huge thanks to the phenomenal steamers, YouTubers and reviewers who've taken the time to check us out! It's also been great for getting feedback - and in response, I'm excited to talk about what's coming next.

Overall, we've had positive reactions to the game - but there's a common theme that keeps emerging: that the game may be too long. Or, even, substantially too long.

Supersize My Heart seems to run most players from prologue to credits about five and a half hours, for a single route (with five standard routes, and a lengthy epilogue). I think we can all agree that's a little silly for what this game is. It doesn't help that until today our forum description incorrectly said a playthrough should take about an hour and a half. TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE, we're currently working on a campaign length option that will allow players to choose, at the start of a playthrough, whether they would like to play a Standard (or Sit-Down) playthrough of 5 1/2 hours, or the abbreviated (Quick Service) playthrough of about 2 hours. The abbreviated playthrough will have shorter sequences and be missing some of the 'connecting tissue' scenes found in a regular length playthrough. We'll have more information about this in the coming weeks.

Thankfully, we haven't heard about any bugs (yet; fingers crossed) in Supersize My Heart, but we will be fixing a handful of spelling and grammar mistakes that we've noticed since our last update. Also, we'll be adding 'Sauce' to the Music Library. I'm not sure why it wasn't there before - I dropped the ball, that's on me.

And finally, we're excited to announce what I'm tentatively calling our Sonny-side Up(date). This Summer, we're bringing a new route to the game centered around everyone's infamous and up-till-now very much un-dateable starman, Sonny. As a character added post-launch, completing his route will not be necessary to unlock the Epilogue; but he will be a selectable romance partner when playing through the Epilogue. The Sonny-side Up(date) is free and will be patched into the game like previous updates.

Okay! To business, tho! We just launched our 1.2.0 Update for Supersize! Figured I'd pop in here and share it too:



March is here, and our first update in 2025. Many hours and over 300 Canva assets later, we've made hundreds of little changes across the course of the game that I hope improve the experience.

The biggest of which: I added choices to all four of the character routes, and the solo route. No longer does the game become strictly kinetic as soon as you start the final arc of your playthrough. These are very similar to the choices you'll find in the Common Route - but they're not meant to provide drastic branching paths. You'll still follow the story of the route - the choices (mostly dialogue options, like you'd find in an RPG) are more meant to let you express yourself and 'flavor' your experience. That being said, there *are* a few choices you can make that might straight up bump you from your route - so watch out for those!

All in all, I'm very happy with this update. I think it vastly improves the experience. If you have any questions or encounter any bugs that I missed, please hit me up via email or here in Discussions and I'll get them taken care of ASAP!

Next update, which I'm hoping will drop next month: abbreviated playthroughs and Steam Achievements! That'll be fun - I'll actually have to do a bit of coding for once, so fingers crossed!

You can find the more-or-less complete change list below:

  • Added approx. 120 choices across the five routes (Mackie, Sovereign, Kai, the General, Solo)
  • Added 3 new choices to Common Route scenes previously missing choices
  • Player is now directly informed via an on-screen banner when they've exited the Common Route and started their final route, whatever that happens to be for their playthrough
  • Player is informed via a direct message and via the Employee Handbook how many Craveability points they need to romance a character (7)
  • Craveability needed to romance a character is now standardized (7)
  • Player is informed Monday Morning, Week 1 how to skip through dialogue (Ctrl button)
  • 'Sauce' has been added to the Music Library
  • Dozens of edits across all routes to remove the most egregiously cringy dialogue I could find (some was left for posterity, and because some of it I find funny)
  • Tweaks to dialogue when meeting Sovereign and Mackie for the first time
  • Additional dialogue added to nearly all routes to clarify previously glossed-over narrative issues
  • Changed New Game+ messaging so it no longer refers to the Express Route as having no player choices
  • Various minor scene flow changes across all routes
  • About half a dozen spelling mistakes VANQUISHED
