Surgery

#1 Post by PyTom »

Just a note to everyone here: I'm scheduled to go in for surgery to repair a large hernia on July 7th. I'm going to be hospitalized for a few days after the surgery, so I probably will be absent from here for at least that long.

I have to admit that I've been stressing out a bit over this (it's the first time I will be put under general anesthesia... one of my biggest fears), and it's been affecting my ability to focus on things like Ren'Py. So if I haven't been supporting people as much as I usually do, I apologize for that.

I'm sure I will be, too. It's just that this is the first major medical procedure I've had in my self-aware life. So it's doing a bit of a mental number on me, even though that isn't a terribly rational result.

If it means anything, the surgery itself is generally the best part if you're going to be under anesthesia. You're totally unconscious, so it's like the operation never even happened. It's the long recovery process afterwards that's the most difficult...

Hope you get better soon. I've never had to go through any surgeries or such, so I can't even imagine how it's like too.

I share your fears! I never been in general anesthesia, and I'm really scared about that. But at least the surgery itself is nothing serious. Best of luck with it!

I was a little apprehensive before my first experience with general anesthesia, but now I feel like it enhanced my worldview.

Goodluck, Pytom!
I'm sure you'll be okey. I've been under general anesthesia a few times and it's really not bad once you get there and get down to it. Honestly, I've not had a time where I could actually recall being put under. I remember going into the hospital and I remember waking up and that's about it.

Be sure to take advantage of all the free jello! lol The only thing that tastes better than jello when you're just waking up is jello served by hot nurses. and don't worry, if hentai has taught me anything, it's that all the nurses will be hot. :D

Hope you'll be fine, nowadays operations like these are standard procedure, so my thoughts go to your recovery being fast and easy.

Don't worry, the anesthesia isn't really that bad. Before you know it you'll find yourself floating away, and then waking up in the hospital bed. It's not as bad as anyone thinks, it just takes a little getting use to the first time. Good luck and take care! :D

Ow. What type of surgery are you getting?

If it helps any, I survived my hernia surgery (though it HURT when I woke up. A lot. And I had to sleep on the couch for a while because it was less painful to get up from than a bed.). And now I get to tell people about the mesh plate implanted in my groin, which makes a great conversationderailer.
