I just want to report some comments people made when they got to play Heileen for free for 1 day on the giveawayoftheday website. Of course, there were also positive comments, but those made me laugh, so wanted to share:
didn’t like this at all… it went from the ‘friend’ ogling the men on the ship to a homosexual situation with Heileeen!! :-0 I WAS NOT expecting that! I am glad I had a little game play before my daughter (16) got to it. I have uninstalled it. I give this a MAJOR THUMBS DOWN!! I think the creators should have divulged certain information so ppl who would be/could be/will be offended by such content wouldn’t have to find out the hard way!
So her daughter at 16 doesn't yet know what homosexuality is ?!
Beside that, what does she think it means "The game contains mild language and has sexual themes."? LOL
The only subject (and apparently only goal) was who is Heileen going to sleep with? The constant themes of homosexuality and rape and abuse makes this more like a visual soap opera than a game.

No responsible parent would consider allowing their children to play this game, especially teenaged ones. After the lesbian kiss came out of nowhere, it was clear this game was just stupid. Free or not, this was stupid.
There is no "rape and abuse" in Heileen, apart for one ending with Lora. Saying that those two are a constant theme is a plain BS. (lesbian instead yes )
Didn't know that a lesbian kiss was a horrible, satanic event! But is perfectly OK to show people killing each others with machineguns on tv all the day...

Yeah, you'll always get those people.
What's laughable is that their teenagers are probably watching much worse on TV...

*sigh*
And I love how people don't read ratings and then scream about how they're "shocked" by the content.

by reminding him of the courage and honor and hope and pride
and compassion and pity and sacrifice which have been the glory of his past."

I honestly get a kick out of reading reviews where they hate X game, and the gist of it seems to be *it didn't conform to what I expected it to be, therefore it must be lousy* Yo, if you don't like the game, don't play it and don't write a review because you didn't like it! YEESH

It says right on there *sexual themes* - because it wasn't what they themselves were expecting, it must be bad, right?

Hey, IF I'm going to blast a game, it's going to be because it's buggy, lousy writing (as in waaaaaay too many typos), things like that. Saying *this game stinks because it wasn't what I expected it to be* is amount to saying *I don't have anything useful to say, so I'm just going to blast it*

Honestly, any publicity is good publicity. Those comments make me want to try the game more than not.

"Jack Norton", IIRC, you're of this side of the Ocean (that is, EU) so I'm happy that you have taken simple laughs for the nonsensical rambling from these "moigerate" [1] soccer moms; the sad fact is that in the US of A there are people whose really think that turning back the clock to (dark) past resolve all social problems.

[1] It's a hard to translate Italian joke; the major soccer mom association in Italy is named "MOIGE" (an acronym) and in Italian "morigerato" means "prudish" so the portmanteau means more or less "prudish soccer mom"

Best regards from Italy,
Dott. Piergiorgio.

Man... those things that "soccer moms" teach their children may cause problems down the line. Then we gotta clean it up.

Those comments are kind of silly and I'd never agree on them, but don't you think your customers have the right to have an opinion, norton? It just looks like whenever anyone says anything negative about your games, you deny it and often even say offensive things about the writers. While some of those comments really might be wrong about your games, I doubt it pays off to be rude to your customers. It is weird that you mock them publicly like this, even if they are just potential customers.

Hime, you're seeing things that I don't see at all. I was clearly joking (note the smileys and the LOLs) and though to make some people laugh (and apparently did).
I am never rude to my customers: to be clear those above got the game for free on a giveaway, and posted those (rude) comments in a PUBLIC site, can give you the link if you want. I think I'm entitled at least to reply, to post my opinion: I'm against censorship in games and that's all.
If you want I can show you at least 10 other reviews/comments in which they speak very bad about my games, but about the writing, the programming, BUT not about the fact that "being homosexual is bad". As you can see I never posted about those or replied in forums.

Anyway, moderators can delete this thread, sorry if anyone got offended. I'll be quiet from now on and post only about my games updates.

Well, many think that publicly making fun of one's opinion is rude. People who test your products for free are potential customers too, who I think should be treated with respect. I don't see what other reviews have to do with this: I only wished to note you that many would be offended by you citing them and laughing at their opinions, and that offending potential customers probably isn't beneficial.

Why do you have to say you'll be quiet instead of discussing this in a peaceful manner? I'm only sharing my opinion of this thread and its purpose, there's no reason to be aggressive. If the people you've cited like this are completely okay with it, well then there's no problem, but I'd be concerned that joking about their comments like this might not encourage them to be your customers in the future. If you don't care or agree, you can just completely disregard what I say, but there's no need to make threats about not posting in the future. It'd be overreacting to do something like that over one post that said your thread was impolite.

But I have stated my opinion and you can think what you want of it - just like your potential customers have the right to have their opinions about your games, I believe you have the right to think the way you do as well. :)

Well I should stop posting mostly because I can't express my feelings in english exactly how I would like to :)
I already noticed many times in the past, I had no intention to offend or critic anyone, or I wanted only to joke politely but often other people were offended and misunderstood me anyway (like in this case!).
I'll give one more try (hope I won't do more damage  ):
I said I wouldn't post anymore only because thought you were right, not because I was offended by what you said. My replies to them was critics to their "mindset", not because they were criticizing MY games (as I said).
Basically of those two comments, one was shocked that there was adult content - and there was a big warning nearby the download link. Like walking into a movie theater when they're airing a porn movie and then be offended by it :) The second was claiming that abuse and rape were recurring themes in Heileen and that wasn't absolutely true except for one ending (and just a few paragraph).

When you give people something for free they never appreciate it... it's sad but it's just the way it is. :(

I have small bookstore and i also published some books of my own. And of course since i am a nice guy i didn't publish my books to make money - so i often gave them away for free or gave them away for cost. But strangely - if i did this - nobody wanted it and those who took it gave me bad ratings. Conversely the more i charged for the books - the better they sold and i got good ratings too.
