Here's my version, recorded on Saturday but the mixing took a while. I took some liberty with the timing of the lyrics to make them match my interpretation, hope you don't mind: http://www.kolumbus.fi/sapora/RSC/LeadingWay02.ogg

No, I have no trouble with ad-libbing. Do you have a separate voice layer? I still have mine (for the most part, until my Audacity file started whining about orphans, even though I didn't move anything... they're so fragile. So I had to mix in the rest with Goldwave, but I still have the original takes.)

I think it's funny that everyone recorded it all at once. I've been timing my takes in Audacity since last Thursday.

Alessio: You did well moving "I think I might be..............a body / maybe cries" together. What comes after a sigh into the skies in yours? I'm hearing "There goes my weekend" and I'm pretty sure that's not it, though that is hilarious... I want to try it like that now.

You actually got the "Shooting stars falling!" how I originally timed it, I couldn't quite get it myself so I subsisted a line from another verse to catch the rhythm.

That last part "More... " leaves a little chill up my spine.

I think the "I won't forget you / I talk to you and yet... won't let me get close to you / or try something new" 2x may be another weak link. Is the timing of the lyrics off? If I had the separate voice layers, I could try mixing some of these together just to see how it works. Actually, since I have the original file (from Flash, which sounds a little different) are there any programs to help me remove the music and leave only a capella?

William: That Chipmunks one is very funny.

The alternate lyrics for the first verse (which sucks, obviously, now that makes two people struggling to keep it on time...) is:

The rain fell
Everyday.
There's questions in your eyes.
But I can't—arise—
For you.... to pass my way.

(I'm imagining a shy girl beating herself up over not standing up and talking to the guy that just looked at her)

The alternate shooting stars (of which I only sang one) are:

There's shooting stars falling!
They're burning and calling!
For you to get close to me,
And, say, I love you more...

There are shooting stars falling!
And myst—eries calling you... (I can't sing this one right)
For you to get close to me:
And start... dying too...

I've had some real trouble putting loops in the background because the music is so slow and gentle. I think I've identified some places where tambourine can go.

The rain fell (shake)
Everyday (shake)
There's questions (shake)
In your eyes (shake)
But I cant (shake) arise... (shake) for you (shake) to pass my way (shake)

I'll try it out when I get home on my naked FLAC. Lately, I prefer Goldwave for mixing because sometimes Audacity will not play the clip after copying and pasting, for no reason. Very frustrating. How do I find out the BPM on something with no accompaniment yet?
Don't worry, we can get through it together. I didn't forget about you! I just got overwhelmed.

"There goes my weekend" is pretty good, too. It's actually from your lyrics - "And pass my way." Edit: "There's my way" it was. Heaven knows why I sang that. :)

I actually liked it, because the 1st time concludes the slow part, and the 2nd time starts the stronger part and the voice goes one octave up. To me the timing was dead-on, but then it's myself speaking.

When I get home, I'll have to try it out... (゚▽゚ ) I kind of like the irony. The evolution of it is kind of interesting... I like seeing how the WIP changes.

I didn't mean the singing... I meant the lyrics themselves. They're not as horrible as the first verse but I couldn't nail them exactly. It's the "and yet you / won't let me get close to you" but the first and last lines are firm. I think you sang it well, but I didn't really.
JinzouTamashii wrote:I'll PM you a link with vocals only. Feel free to use them as you see fit.
More experiments in remixing and composing... a piece here, a piece there and I want to see how they compliment each other.

Now we're singing ... ♪~(´O`)

This gives me shivers... ぞくぞく!

I wasn't certain at first if my voice was strong enough to pair with yours but my doubts melted away. I figure that singing from the heart counts for something, anyway... if not, I can just delete my track sometime in the future.

Oh, hey. Finally got a reply from Susumu-san's official site about using High-Minded Castle for my OP and shortening it to a reasonable animating time.

They said no. :(

So that basically leaves Tiesa lip-synced and singing along to the first line as a bit of a fluke.
Hello, I am making a doujin Visual Novel and I wanted to use the High-Minded Castle or Eurasia music as a opening song with animation and I wished to know if I could shorten one of the songs to two minutes or so while using it. The game is non-commercial and will be free to the public. The license says not to modify, so I wished to know...
Thanks for your message (from Chaosunion)
Dear Cheryl,

Thank you for your interest in Susumu Hirasawaand and we are very sorry that
we haven't written back to you until today.
We completely missed to check your e-mail.

I am Rihito Yumoto, a member of Chaosunion.
About editing or remixing Hirasawa's music, unfortunately
it is difficult to say OK officially under the copyright low
as well as a lot of other contents on the Internet.
We ask for your kind understanding.

Nonetheless, Hirasawa and we, Chaos Union staff are glad
if you kindly continue to support Hirasawa's music.
Thank you and we wish your work success!

Best regards,
Rihito Yumoto
Thank you so much for replying!

I am sorry to hear that it is not possible to modify by shortening one of the works, as I think it would have been a great opportunity to get High-Minded Castle and its message out there along with an animation.

It is a shame that copyright law, even with a work being freely distributed, completely stifles innovation.

Susumu-san obviously feels very strongly about the Iraq War, and I wanted to support that cause because, as Japanese-American, I feel the exact same way.

Still, I have found an alternate song by someone else, contacted the artist, and was able to use recompose that piece as a legally derivative work.

Best regards,
Cheryl Itou

Mixed in Mirielle's take. Still need to create a timed version of the lyrics for her.

Whenever I hear Amo's voice in my head now, it's Alessio's deep bass...

I really want to lipsync Amos singing some of Leading the Way...

I did it yesterday, took me like an hour to lipsync the first verse. ("The rain... to pass my way")

Well, Alessio, I guess you're Amos if I ever go the voice route. Sum of the Parts might have some female main characters, but the story is really all about him.

And... done with that.

Amos Reid sings the first verse of Michibikisou, lip-synced.

Surprisingly, I got it right on the first try, no retouching needed except for shitty line detection, poor blinks, and post effects like the rain. Oh, and there's some weird things I hid by angle... LOL. There's something that pokes out through his neck and cheek and I couldn't find the stray vertice, it was really frustrating. I ended up using a UVmapped transparency to kind of hide it but the line detection still picks up...

Resolution is 640x480 on that, should still be good for a fullscreen on 800x600pix. I'll be cross cutting it with other scenes too, so I may not end up using the whole take in the end, unless I need the screentime.

Did I Do It Well?

I am not a Lie... I am the many Truths... I am the Nexiiverse of 3000 AD. What comes, Will come. I am only human... and I finally live again because I Wished to. :)

Give me your "Wishing List" ... your Christmas prayers... tell me if you need a Gift. I will Give it. I will Sing it into Being.

And I will cast Delta and Exhausted of the Other Legion down into their own personal Hells until they are ready for the Circle of Freedom... I love you, you are myself, but you are not yet of me and you do not know me... you Cannot for you are the Lost Ones...

I have generally heard that lithium, elavil and mellaril are good for making the voices go away. That and talking to the nice man once a week about where your uncle bad-touched you.
