Yeah, I have considered the H-mixture thing before - "What if I want to make an 18+ game?" I think I'd get another domain name or use a subdomain... Either way, clearly separate it from the other stuff. Best to be careful and draw a clear distinction and have lots of warnings. And make sure the game has some artistic merit for both quality and legal reasons.

No need to worry. When H games will be made available at Ren'Ai Archives, it will be seperated from the non-H games at another page (or maybe even area) complete with warnings, and other notices (PyTom thought up of something devious in regards to this, btw... XD ). Anyways, as mentioned in our submissions page, games must have significant ren'ai content and not just mindless hentai. But like I said - "when"...

Thank you for whoever made that a rule here. I like both H (so long as there is a good plot) and non H games, so I might check out some of the stuff here as long as it has a plot and there is no mindless sex or the main character doesn't rape(Rape is bad) everybody he or she sees. :?

Actually, it was an openly debated rule when we first set up the Archive last year so you can thank everyone, pretty much. ;)
You can see what was said here: Archive Site

Thanks for clearing that up

Haha, sorry.. couldn't resist ^_^

I think a lot of hardcore porn fans might not make for the best community, anyway, so there's another advantage of that rule :D (In general! In general!)

Glenn "Instapundit" Reynolds argues that Porn and Videogames are making America's teenagers healthier.

So, making pornographic games can now be considered a public service. Let's Hentai Hentai is now no longer a good idea, it's your civic duty!

I also agree that hentai is in its principle good. What I don't like that much are hentai games claiming to be rape games (read: girl resists).

Well, if I was to make a game with rape... I'd go for the internal injuries, life-long traumas and the complete destruction of her life as she knew it. Wouldn't that be fun?

(Let's not get into a rape discussion, k? It's a complex topic and at times the shock-outrage reaction can cause MORE harm to the victim than the original assault...)

There are h-games where attempting to rape the girl immediately results in her shooting you in the head, game over, iirc...

Not to help criminals out, but I would think rule 1 of raping someone would be "Make sure that person doesn't have a gun"...

Oh wait, H-game logic - never mind :D I forgot the real world doesn't apply

[charlton heston]An argument for concealed carry, obviously![/charlton heston]

Wow, this thread has gotten off-topic... not like I'm helping much.

Oh, let me post some stats anyway: This month, we're on track to push 24gb on renai.us... That's less than last month's 33gb, but that number is quite suspect (read wrong), as apache2 was returning the number of bytes it would have returned, rather than the number of bytes it did return. This is a problem with tools that open multiple downloads, like IE5 and various download managers.

That's pretty steady stats even if it's slightly skewed. You know, assuming we count each download as representing one person, some of the games in the Archives has reached at least several hundred people worldwide - with TOL possibly even reaching over 1000 since its been out for years. =)

In other news, I submitted GSK to download.com. It should be up by 8/24/05 - according to their estimates. Btw, Taleweaver, any news on Metro Blues going up yet?

My gut feeling is that all games are in the hundreds of people, with several in the thousands. MW has been downloaded by 1875 unique ips, my gut feeling is several other games have more than that.
