An Opening?

#1 Post by Pyua »

Is there a possibility that our visual novels can have openings, including an opening song, a bit of credits, different CGs...? (Customizable)
If so, how can I make an opening?
Thank you!

Yup, it's entirely possible to have an opening for your game using Ren'Py. You have to make the video yourself though and there's different movie making softwares that can do that.

Yes, and one of the movie makers you probably already have is Windows Movie Maker, it's alright and easy to use but you may want to download a movie maker more advanced than that.
I love GxB/Otome games! (Same thing really).

Anyone here like Bleach?

I think an opening video is really great for a VN. It gives it a more professional feel (if it's done right). My VN opening video was made with Windows Movie Maker and some Corel Video Editor program.

If you're talking about the posibilities of an amateur developer to create a decent looking OP for a game and possibilities Ren'Py gives, you might consider making a static-pictures opening and program it using Ren'Py ATL language, which is a powerful tool. Otherwise, consider making it a traditional movie. But sticking to some "static" animation may be the best choice - it's easier to create whole scenes using static pictures that move, creating a nice experience. For an example of what i'm talking about, look up here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=khmGIdLlVaM

The best choice would propably be Adobe's After Effects studio, bu since it's a top-notch commercial program, you might try it's alternatives:
Nuke - http://www.thefoundry.co.uk/pkg_overvie ... 98B0171453 and Final Cut Studio http://www.apple.com/finalcutstudio/ . As far as I know, both of them should be free (at least they were, some time ago). There's also http://www.kdenlive.org/, but it's a Linux-wise program.
