But he will have to accept responsibility for the vengeful spirits haunting him for taking them in the first place! :P

Good thing I'm not superstitious, or else you guys would never have gotten the photographs. My number one fear wasn't actually ghosts, but that I would offend someone, so I had to make sure there were no strangers around and that I was surrounded by my friends before I could take the photos.

This is one of the holy grails of digital image processing, and it's pretty unlikely you're going to find a free off-the-shelf version that actually works that well. You could try looking for "toon filters"... or trying some combination of edge-detect and posterise, depending on how much you care about the quality.

Personally, I'd just draw over the top...

There's a fairly nice-looking (and reasonably-priced) piece of software called dynamic auto-painter which can make them look like they're painted, though, it might be possible to use that to make photos look like painted anime backdrops.

Thank you SO much for these Samu-kun. I've downloaded them all, they're all incredible and some are quite beautiful pictures as well.

I plan on using these on the small VN I'm working on atm and the ones just generally around town are perfect! :)

wowza, I'm definitely checking out that pack right now!

I know there's a place for sprite makers, but is there a sticky thread or photo gallery for all the BGs people are posting for use? It'd be nice if we could organize them all in one place.
