The subway tracks tremored under my feet, swaying my body to and fro. One hand grabbed feverishly for balance, while the other is wrapped tightly around a heavy boxed package. Even when the cart came to a halt, I still refused to loosen my grip.
“Ping! The next stop is ‘Kingly Heights’. Please avoid the closing doors.”
Now, the train is filled to the brim. I’m forced to lean closer to Usagi, sleeping in front of me.
“U-Usagi...Usagi…” I whisperd. My cheeks stung from the growing warmth from my weak attempts to wake her up. I didn’t want others to hear me. I didn’t like that they had to push me. They’re all so needlessly close to me. I really hate subways. I hate the passengers, who get on everyday, even more.
“U-u...sagi…” The train engine overpowered my voice, until the conductor finally blared into speakers.
“Ping! Kingly Heights! Kingly Heights! The next stop is…”
“Usagi!” I said.
“Mhnm…?” Usagi slowly opened her eyes, looking rather annoyed. She gave my flopped ears one look before finally noticing the signs outside the subway cart.
“Ah!” She grabbed onto my collar while proceeding to hustle her way out with me on her tail.
