Finished~
Question:
Would this style be good enough for a semi-commercial product?
(not that it is for a commercial product, but I'm curious.)

You've improved a lot, but I wouldn't pay money for a VN for that kind of quality. You need to improve and solidify your coloring technique and make your lineart neater.

Yea, I had a funny feeling someone would say that XD
Though I am fond of this kind of colouring, so will probably stick to it now.
I hate line art ;~;

Yeah, lineart seems to be the bane of most digital artists' existence (I myself am fine with it), but with the type of coloring you're doing, your lineart is too weak to support it.
Something I would suggest is experimenting with your lineart, such as using different colors (try dark browns, reds, oranges) or changing up your line width. It doesn't have to be thin and fine.

*wonders off to try and find a line-art tut that makes sense to me ;~;*
Also, what do you mean by 'my line art is to to weak to support my colour'?

The grey gives a very washed out look to the overall sprite and in addition with being really thin, it clashes with the heavy strokes you're using for coloring. It's why I suggested using other colored lines so that it wouldn't look dull.Rinima wrote:

And the thing with lineart is that I don't feel like it's a concept that's hard to understand, but rather it's difficult to execute well and one of the main factors is how good you are at drawing or how well you use the digital medium. I remembered this post on Tumblr I found about lineart, I think it gives good tips:

I suggest shrinking the head a little bit. Not too much, but enough so that the proportions look more balanced.

Re: Rinima's Art thread (crit requested)
Hey, here's a red-line:
- The hairline is usually lower.
- For me, when I put my arms down, my elbows are ~past the end of my ribcage.
- Additionally, my wrist reaches ~end of hip, so the hand could be pushed up.
- Shoulders tend to be 1.5 heads width.
I'm not too good with legs, so it'd be gud if you went and looked at leg references yourself, if you wanted to get better at them.
Hope it helps, yo!
