Nana's Art Hole
Nana's Art Hole
Hi everyone
so my creativity drive has peaked once again [and so close to exam period as well T.T]
so I've been sketching and trying out different styles
I'd just like some feedback, mostly about these key features that i seem to struggle with:
1. Anatomy, my eyes tell me its in proportion one minute then everything is out of whack the next, tips please.
2. Shadowing, I've looked at RL photos and try to match the shading, but its very difficult with cartoon characters
3. Curly hair for men, HOW DO YOU DRAW IT!??
Here's a few of my work:

Re: Nana's Art Hole
Yes, I can see you are definitely improving. The color, the line, the shading, all of them are clearly improving. Try drawing full body pose though, it's good for practice.
Oh, and please upload more new art. Since the first one is your picture from a year ago. Not good for critique.
BTW, when I read your thread title, "art hole", I ... involuntarily misunderstood a little ^0^

Oooh I like them, especially the sketch, since the character looks more gentle there (because of the eyebrows and eyes, maybe?) :3
Just wondering, are there actually glasses like that that don't have temples or is it just a manga phenomenon?

If you're going for human proportions, some could be a little better, but the beauty of cartoons is that nothing HAS to be in proportion. If something looks good to you, that's all that matters.
More on topic, I love Little Red Riding Hood, Cross, and the Bartender who looks like an anime Mickey Rourke in The Wrestler.

Yeah, there is. They work because the bridge actually acts like a clip and holds on the nose. They are really old fashioned and rather uncomfortable to wear (I have tried a pair on once).Snow Blossom wrote:Just wondering, are there actually glasses like that that don't have temples or is it just a manga phenomenon?

Yeah I agree, he looks much more calm and gentle in the sketch than the cgSnow Blossom wrote:Oooh I like them, especially the sketch, since the character looks more gentle there (because of the eyebrows and eyes, maybe?) :3

Lol I guess. Could you tell me which proportions I should work on?Son_Of_Synyster wrote:If you're going for human proportions, some could be a little better, but the beauty of cartoons is that nothing HAS to be in proportion. If something looks good to you, that's all that matters.

and thanks =D
I've seen those ones but my friend has a pair that are like... the bridge is made from a rubbery material and has this kind of stick on capability. they don't pinch the nose and stay on pretty well =] [as long as you dont jump up and down to test how well they stay on...]Auro-Cyanide wrote:Yeah, there is. Lol. I'm Chinese and I've never actually seen anyone wear them except my friend who got them for the novelty of it.OtomeWeekend wrote:Those glasses, I usually see them worn by chinese people(is there something on it?)

Hmmm... or it could be to preserve the cool megane look without blocking too much of the bishounen face
