Free Voice clip Resources For Visual Novels

#1 Post by Hero »

I have recently started a project at voiceactingalliance.http://voiceactingalliance.com/board/sh ... highlight=
a project to create a lovely multipurpose free sound clips collection for visual novel and game creators (not for
commercial purposes donated in the spirit of freedom by many very talented voice actors. .

Voices are not to be used in mature media or perverse matter (no hentai porn etc. plus if noted by actor actress other restrictions may apply.) Please also give credit voice actor's in works..

These resources being collected are not for myself yet are for others.
All creative people wanting to share with others ^-^ .

I don't have much experience in file hosting or web page creation yet I would like to host these files in a place
where all creators can enjoy and benefit from them and where voice actors can be proud of, I am open to any help and contributions.

I just noticed the lack of files like these and wanted to give back to the many wonderful game creators out there.

For those with Dropbox accounts https://www.dropbox.com/home#::: you can browse sounds individually to pick and choose sounds you want in my public folder, files are divided into two groups guys and girls. my e-mail is heroik@live.com
Than You!

Kristen Archer AKA Chibiwings
is one of the first talented voice actresses lending her voice for us.
commercial demoreelhttp://audioboo.fm/boos/450766-wendy-s-vo-sample
character demoreelhttp://audioboo.fm/boos/606271-deuce...-type-0-fandub
She has a cute voice these clips I would say are suitable for the
little sister or younger girl type character.

In her voice files she included this message ^-^..
Hello! I am Kristen Archer (chibiwings on Voice Acting Alliance).

Thank you for your interest in my voice. I love voice acting and I work hard on it everyday. I am excited that you want to use my voice!

However there is one thing that I ask. Please do not use my voice clips for anything involving sex, pornography or anything in relation to these things. I ask that my voice be used in projects on a G to PG13 rated level.

Again thank you so much for using my voice! It really means a lot to me and I am very excited! :)

-Kristen Archer

and here is the file for all to enjoy feel free to contribute and host on websites etc. more voices to come.

I'm curious, how do these clips get used in-game? To me it seems like using pre-existing dialogue could be tricky, or is that not what this is?

These clips are used more like vocal sound effects, designed more to accent the emotions of the game scenarios, these type of voice clips are used often in games like zelda etc. (like the princess laugh in ocarina of time.) combined with great music can create tasteful magic.

They reduce file size being short and reusable while fully voice acted novels can increase file size
and sometimes ruin atmosphere.
these files are meant to be like sugar to sweeten up a scene, Say you make a choice that makes a character happy a drawing might convey it pretty well lol yet you could also add to that scene with some well placed sound effect of laughter and music and it may just increase its sweetness ten fold.

Sometimes its not the quantity of sound files in a
game its the quality of the sound and it placement to help capture the essence of the moment,

short and sweet sound common sound clips for multiple purposes is what the sounds are about.
a small file size solution to spice things up like a well placed melody.

Ah, so effects, not lines, got it. That's what I thought originally, because having pre-existing dialogue recordings doesn't make sense at all, but even so, I wasn't sure. Just in case there's more idiots like me wandering about, you may want to clearly specify that these are effects. xD

I nothing else nice to add to this ^^

Actually, I lied o.O

A great way to host these files in one place is DropBox. You can organize files into folders, and you can also preview audio tracks. The only thing is that you need to invite people to access your folder, so that could be a bit of a pain >_>

Yep I have a dropbox account as well I mostly use it for work purposes as a artist I could store files there as well. might be hard for people getting a hold of me sometimes,
anyways I've received another audition from another very talented voice actress these files emotions seem very expressive well recorded and could prove useful.
This amazing actress goes by the name Sydsnap

Neat idea! The only time I did something similar to this was during "Daemonophila" where I gave my game a "laugh track" similar to what you hear in older sitcoms. But having short voice samples will probably work just as well.

Other idea: why not create some lines in "mock Japanese" that convey different moods so that you can have an effect much like Midna talking in "Zelda: Twilight Princess". Or does that sound too offensive, having something that sounds like a foreign language but is, in truth, just gibberish?
