Weird Bug XP

Yeah, for some reason in XP for me, Allegro programs always pop up, change screen modes, and then quit out. I don't know why, but I have a hunch that it was a bug that was fixed in Allegro 4.1 or so. Mainly because the changelog says something about fixing the infamous WinXP black screen bug. I don't use Allegro myself, but I am just curious: will updating this fix my problem? Too many things people I know have made just won't run at all!

I'm pretty sure that's not the black screen problem they're talking about. If even the Allegro setup program won't run, I'm not sure what to say... If you've been having this problem with other programs as well, it might just be your computer...
