Yeah, I was just super surprised that it had actually been built into Photoshop. Makes adding new palettes veeeeery easy.HumbertTheHorse wrote:Kuler is also available at kuler.com where it was born.

Great master tumblr post that compiles other art related posts on tumblr. Wow that sounded redundant.

Re: Art Learning Resources
Here's a nice new art tutorial on drawing kids and older people in a more "anime" style. I remember seeing someone complain about a lack of references for older people in anime/manga to use... I can't remember if that was here or not, but hopefully this is useful to someone.

Re: Art Learning Resources
I dunno if someone's posted these yet, but I've been finding video anatomy tutorials easier to grasp than static image tutorials. Basically I follow along as the person's drawing...the whole thing feels more visceral to me.
These are two I've been checking out:
drawtips (animator's website: solomation) http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL4AABBEDFB0395933
and
Mark Crilley (for manga) http://www.youtube.com/user/markcrilley
Two very different approaches, and Crilley's probably more accessible, but I'd recommend looking at these two and as many as possible as you learn.
Edit: I'm just starting to look into these tutorials in my attempt to conquer the male anatomy. I really like Jazza's tutorials (plus he's funny and has a cute accent. *swoon*).

^Has that been shared yet? If not, there you go. It's kinda like a slideshow of human figures with minimal clothing (sometimes completely nude if you choose that option) so that way you can learn anatomy and poses at the same time.

GIMP Paint Studio - For painters and artists alike. (I love this thing)
Update for GIMP 2.8:

A quick look at the presets samples
from my 30 minute experience? This thing is powerful in the hand of the right persons. (Had a nice time playing with the presets though)
Side note: hate the boring greys of GIMP? Pimp your GIMP (dear God...a pun) here
Intro video: (the dev is Spanish...so it's heavily accented)from Google Code wrote:The goal of GPS is to provide an adequate working environment for graphic designers and artists to begin to paint and feel comfortable with GIMP from their first use. Later the user will change these settings based on his own workflow preferences and understanding of GIMP.

Just found this website with various video tutorials about how to draw the Head and elements of the head.
On the "Books" Tab, you may find links to buy on amazon some essential books for artists!

Don't trust your memory, and don't blindly trust what others teach you either.
Research, observation, analysis, experimentation and practice are the key! (:

Re: Art Learning Resources
I just heard about this new art program, that's like SAI and Photoshopped combined? Best of all, it's free. The website isn't working for me at the moment.
But it's called FireAlpaca, if anyone is interested.

Re: Art Learning Resources
Since backgrounds are pretty much hard to do, why isn't there any resource about backgrounds and perspective and stuff? ouo
I just bought "Perspective Made Easy" by Ernest R Norling, and it's pretty spot-on on explaining things. I think it will be useful for some people~
And if anyone needs exercises for drawing, "The Magic of Drawing" by Cliff Wright helps too. It helps with eye-hand coordination, and there are some tips about composition too, helpful for CGs.
