Help with syntax for changing character poses.

#1 Post by DragonaTalon127 » Mon Jun 11, 2012 7:42 pm

I'm new to using Ren'Py and I haven't had any problems till now. I can't seem to be able to get the characters to change their poses without and error popping up saying I'm usuing the syntax wrong. I've been searching for a while and no matter what I do it just isn't working for me. If someone could please tell me the synax I'd be greatfull. I'd also appreciate if you could put it simple.

Basically I'm trying to get my character Miyu to change her position to being angry. so if you could use that in your demonstration it would make things a whole lot easier on me. I tend to get things as soon as I see it put into use.

Could you post your code? It would be easier to find out what was wrong if we could see it.

Are you defining your images? Are you making sure to indent properly? It should look somewhat like this:

Code: Select all

image miyu happy ='miyuhappy.png'
image miyu angry ='miyuangry.png'
########
label start:
    show miyu happy
    miyu "I'm happy."
    show miyu angry
    miyu "Now I'm mad."

So far the script looks like this.

image bg cave = "cave.png"

image miyu = "miyu.png"
image miyu angry = "miyu_angry.png"
image kimiko happy = "kimiko_happy.png"

define m = Character('Miyu', color="#c8ffc8")
define k = Character('Kimiko', color="#c8c8ff")

label start:
scene bg cave
sh ow miyu at left
show kimiko happy at right

m "W-where are we?"
k "I think it's a cave."

show miyu angry at left

I need her to stay on the left and from what I've read around you still have to specify that she's to the left but I can't get her expression to change.

Oh! nevermind. Seems like I FINALLY figured out what was wrong. After a few hours lol. Thank you for your time though!
