Wow, that looks seriously awesome. I like your art!

I like floating isles as well, but I do think the idea is a bit like beating a dead horse, having been used in so many fictional works.

The twist with the character being from ancient times could be quite interesting. Could you tell us a little bit more about the plot? Is it about finding out what happened to the protagonist?

EDIT:

Concerning the last picture, I think you should blend some colors of the scenery into the character sprites. Because the sprites are relatively light and the background is really dark, they look a little bit out of place. But not too bad, so no worries. ;)

Wow, I love your artwork! It's really clean and full of personality and the character designs are pretty awesome. I'm interested in hearing more about the story, like what the main character is like and why he is attending a school of magic. It seems like it could be quite interesting. Good luck with all the work :)

I am glad that you like my art :) I was a bit worried it might be too different from what the forums are used to.

The idea being a human in a life support chamber? :P I laughed at the Futurama parallel, although that explores a different future.

I'll get back to you on the plot question, I'll have my writer make a couple of summary paragraphs, since I'd just yuck it up. XD (later today most likely).

Yea, I agree, they are definitely too bright for that image. It's a combination of it being a nighttime image with mostly unshaded sprites. I'm still not entirely certain how to handle lighting; I guess I'll have to take it one scenario at a time! (to avoid massively huge amounts of sprite variations between poses, expressions and lighting x.x) Thank you for the input!

Thank you! I like yours as well, I'm currently reading RA. The backgrounds you have made are quite inspiring :)
I am personally thrilled to explore the story more as well, and it is fun to see the characters evolve as I draw them. (I am primarily in charge of character design/initial personality, while my writer fleshes them out and develops the plot.) I just get to draw the pretty scenarios which will be quite a challenge for me. (Yay architecture <<).
Thanks for the luck! I'm sure I'll need it.

Yes. We're still trying to figure out how many males there will be. Originally 3, but it may be 1-2 now. We want to do it really well and believably, not just /instert male/ :3

Thanks! Yea, even though this is a fantasy story, none of the main characters are going to be vampires/werewolves or any of that popular stuff. I'm trying to show some of the other creatures that generally don't see the light of day.

Wow, this looks so awesome! I love your artwork - the character personalities come through very vividly and the costumes are just too cool! I can't decide if I like the manticore (for her attitude) or the engineer's (for her outfit) designs the best. :D

I think the background concepts look great, and I really like the floating island setting. It should give you plenty of opportunity for more pretty backgrounds. xD Best of luck with development, and I look forward to your updates!

Agreeing with what others have said, you show a lot of personality in your character art, and I love the idea of floating islands!

@Arowana
Thanks! :D I agree that the floatyness shall definitely leave plenty of opportunity for crazy outside scenes. I will likely struggle a bit on the indoor ones, but I'm working on it!

@Veniae
Thank you! I wanted to give the poses a lot of personality, forcing myself to learn human anatomy better. Slowly succeeding!

@Lemuel
:B

@kkffoo
I'm glad that their personality is showing through the poses. I'm quite happy with how some of the outside backgrounds have been turning out; floating islands everywhere! :3

I want that genie.

This game sounds like it will be awesome. The character designs are amazing, and the characters themselves are great. Harpy? Yesplease.
I do think it's kind of strange for a human to be the MC, but it has potential if you execute it well. "I'll love you forever, feathers and all."
Also, are those extra arms coming out of the incubus?

Mmm that genie.
