Call-ony [GxB] [Otome] [Sci-Fi/Adventure]

Call-ony

Update!! - Unfortunately, I went to go and work on this on my new computer (I've recently had to transfer all my files over from my other one due to moving issues). Well, everything was lost. I can't find anything aside from a few character images. T.T Sorry, but it looks like I either wont finish this because I don't want to redo it all, or it's going to take forever. Haha. If someone could tell me how to delete the post so it's not just floating here as I flop between deciding to finish or not, that would be appreciated! - Arythin
Plot (or at least the bones of it):
Rae Marie Falcur is 19 years old and has been selected to go on a voyage to a colony on a different planet. She will be the first of 300 people to do this. Once she reaches the colony, her only communication to Earth is by transmitting weekly, and since the colony is only given the bare minimum of supplies, she will have to learn to survive with the basics like the pilgrims. While on her journey, she meets several young men who are destined to the same fate. As they struggle to survive on this strange planet, will something more than just community and friendship sprout?

Characters
Rae Falcur:
She tends to be very stubborn, and can sometimes be blunt. Although she hates her emotions sometimes, she can't help but find this trip so difficult is tends to bring her to tears upon occasion. Regardless, she prefers to help those around her to overcome such hardships. She's an enjoys astronomy and has experience as an engineer of sorts. Thus, she is chosen to be in charge of the communications to and from Earth.

Image
Hael:
Unlike most of the people in the colony, he actually starts to enjoy the adventure of it quite quickly. He's a very positive and up-beat person with a passion for music. As a past time, he would do gardening with his family - this included growing vegetables and the like. Due to his experience, this is him main role in the colony.

Ren:
Despite his initial appearance, he's really quite sweet and well mannered. Ren's quite easy to get along with and had a tendency to talk a lot once you get to know him. His experience with construction and mechanics has designated him to helping establish a town for the colony.

Image
James:
Back home, he was an artist and an architect. Thus, that is what his role is in the colony. He is the main designer of the town and provides good leadership, although he is only the 'deputy' so to speak. James is sociable and takes initiative well and provides good resolve. Not only that, everyone seems to like him.

Hikaru:
Not everyone in the colony speaks English. The government that sent everyone out was surprisingly thorough in who they selected though. Pretty much everyone in the colony speaks either Japanese or English. Hikaru knows both. Although he really dislikes it and doesn't want to, he's given the role of translator and teacher. He reads by the gallon and enjoys learning.

Carter:
Your typical college student, he really never did much and didn't even know what to really do with his life - aside from sports. As a result, he's one of the many people who assume the role of laborers. Surprisingly, he doesn't care much. He enjoys doing the work. On his spare time, he likes to organize events and past-times for the people in the colony, or at least the people willing to participate in them.

Kate:
Kate is a very quite and shy girl who doesn't talk much. At all. Ever. Like, you really have to work at it. She's very kind and sweet once you get to know her, but even then, it's an effort. Regardless, she will always be there for you and is a great friend to have.

This reply took a while. Sorry that it's late.

Planet colonization and terraforming are fascinating themes. While the science fiction movie Pandorum doesn't focus on these topics, in the recent past, I've thought about what might happen after the story's events.

You will benefit by researching a number of topics, especially if you want to create hard sci-fi, such as:

* Theories on how to terraform a biocompatible planet
* Faster than light travel
* How long it would take to get from planet to planet without FTL, and ways to circumvent this problem
* What supplies would be necessary for survival

Also, will the planet in your story have any native plants or animals? Will there be aliens with intelligence comparable to humans?

Thank you both for your replies!

gekiganwing: I have never heard of Pandorum, so I'll have to take a look at it. I appreciate you taking the time to respond with such great advice. I'm actually a very huge Trek nerd, and I have watched multiple other sci-fis in the area of space, so I have a sense of where you're going. I've been thinking about how to incorporate it all, and that's what the remainder of my plotting is currently. If you have any recommendation though, feel free to let me know.

To answer you question, I plan to try and have a decent amount of native plants/animals within the story to make it believable, same goes for intelligent life. The plan as of now is to start off with as little as is possible, and then once the story gets moving and the settings on the planet are establish, the exploration of the planet will further. The intelligent life is the harder part. I'm trying to draw from Star Trek without being too similar to it and in a way that interests players. I don't want it to end up with so much information and sci-fi that it looses the intention of an otome game. Haha. xD Once I have more of these fine details verified, I'll be sure to post them up. I'm trying to get some of the background art done first to help myself establish some setting and visualize where I actually want to go.
