Free Introductory Music Courses (and other).

#1 Post by icecheetah »

Coursera is a site where you can sign up for free courses provided by Universities, and recently the Berklee College of Music has joined and started to provide beginner's music making courses: https://www.coursera.org/berklee. Just thought it might be helpful for others who want to get a start in music or want to improve their skills.

A problem is that the first two, "Introduction to Music Production" and "Songwriting" both begin when NanoReno begins so most of you will probably be pretty busy at the time, but if you sign up you will usually be able to access the material after the course finishes. Another is that since it's best to sign up ahead of time and I don't think this has turned up before, it's hard to tell how good it will be.

If you want to keep your identity secret you can post anonymously to the forums or just not interact with other students there, save for any peer-reviewing which is also anonymous and completely randomised.

And I've mentioned it before, but http://warbeats.com/ has a lot of tutorials in it.

Just thought this might be interesting and feel free to reccomend other music learning resources here.
