Error decompressing data : incorrect header check help

#1 Post by Boyfriend » Tue Feb 12, 2013 5:42 pm

Hi hi! This problem continues to occur every time I try to launch the project while in developer mode.
I'm not sure what it means. Can someone please explain to me what the problem is and help me fix it?

Don't use horrible colors that make your post hard to read.

The error looks like it's what you'd get if a .rpyc file was corrupted. You might want to try downloading Ren'Py again.

Hi

I don't know if the original poster managed to solve the problem, but I seem to be facing the same issue. When trying to run a project on my android device, I see the Ren'Py splash screen and then the app quits. Logcat gives me the following error message:

Code: Select all

I'm sorry, but an uncaught exception occurred.

While loading the script.
error: Error -3 while decompressing data: incorrect header check

-- Full Traceback ------------------------------------------------------------

Full traceback:
File "renpy/bootstrap.py", line 265, in bootstrap
File "renpy/main.py", line 226, in main
  File "renpy/script.py", line 177, in load_script
  File "renpy/script.py", line 418, in load_appropriate_file
  File "renpy/script.py", line 310, in load_file
  File "renpy/script.py", line 288, in load_file_core
  File "/home/tom/ab/android/python-for-android/build/python-install/lib/python2.7/encodings/zlib_codec.py", line 43, in zlib_decode
error: Error -3 while decompressing data: incorrect header check
This thread mentions the same error message (though I don't think Android is involved here):
http://lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/viewto ... =8&t=23280

I've tried the following solutions:
-Deleted .rpyb and .rpyc files.
-Deleted and redownloaded both Ren'Py and RAPT.
-Ran my device with developer mode on and off.
-Ran my own projects as well as the included Tutorial and The Question. Also tested with a completely new and untouched project.
All attempts result in the above error message.

When I run the project on windows (both as a stand-alone program and directly from the launcher), or use any of the provided emulators, everything works perfect. It's only on my android phone I see this issue. (I haven't tried other android devices).

Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

Have you uninstalled and reinstalled the Android app?

This error is from a corrupt .rpyc file somewhere.

Yes, I've completely unistalled the apps every time, before reinstalling. The thing I really don't get is that I can't get the apps working even with a "clean" project. I think I'll try installing a linux distro and then package the apps there; just to make sure I'm not getting weird interference from some Windows software. (For instance, I've dabbled with Kivy, and decided to remove it, in the hope that it was Kivy's Python that was somehow interfering. I didn't really expect it to be the cause of the problem, and it wasn't.)
Guess I'll keep looking for .rpyc-files as well...

Got same problem. How to repeat, on WinXP platform:
1. Download latest RenPy (6.13.3-sdk)
2. Download latest RAPT (6.16.3), unpack to RenPy
3. Start launcher
4. Create new empty project (English template, Crayon + Swamp Critter)
5. Go in Android section and follow manual (install SDK, make keys, configure app, build it...)
6. Upload it to android device (I used wifi with local webserver)
7. Try launch and get crash

I can launch this empty project on Windows and it's works fine.
Yes, Android app I installed and re/uninstalled many times, but no luck here.

Any suggestions?

Same problem here. The odd thing is that when I use RAPT 6.15.7 (obviously have to use it outside the renpy launcher) to package the exact same project, it works fine on my phone. When I use RAPT 6.16.3, it crashes with the same traceback sanddrizzle posted. For now, I'm just using RAPT 6.15.7 but this seems like a possible bug to RAPT 6.16.3?

I think it is.

I'm looking into it, but don't have a fix yet.
