fioricca asked for the script and added more expressions than the bare minimum I determined that I could get away with. I'm just hoping that my writing can keep up with this awesome art now :'D

Why do people always want the side characters OTL I laughed so hard when I saw this, no lie. The guy's happily married and the BxB tag isn't for him, but if I have enough time I'll try to give Jazz Hands more screen time. Perhaps after NaNo I can give him a route of his own?

Garrett, Pia, and Klaus's sprites as well as all 3 CGs have been inked and flat colored, so what's left is Rita and Dr. Han. leon got 2 BGs rendered and ready to go and Ginger also decided on a shading style.

Watermark's there since this was pretty much a complete sprite. Anything we should change before we move onto the next sprites? Personally, I'm in love.

I got through less script than I wanted to today but at least I jumped into Day 5 now (yay!).

The game contains 1,385 dialogue blocks, containing 18,842 words and 100,444
characters, for an average of 13.6 words and 73 characters per block.

The game contains 30 menus, 0 images, and 16 screens.
What you can't see is the programming fixes. leon and I got an imagebutton main menu working, and I tidied up the music player code. Remember how I said it'd continue to the next song by itself? Well, leave it too long and it'd play songs that weren't on that specific mood list u_u I found a way to make sure that doesn't happen anymore, but now it loops on one song until you change it again. Oh well. Would anyone be interested in having this code handy/in the Cookbook?

I'm glad you're gonna give this a try after my failure of a game last time, I'm actually trying this year :'D Thanks! Klaus is probably going to be one of the routes people like more because he's so fun and his CG is really great (trust me yo).

Wordcount barely broke into 19K because leon and I were trying to fight the textbox.

I need to change the color of Pia's name, but is Garrett's name readable? It's ridiculously harder to choose colors for everyone when the uniforms all have the same colors :/ We placed the namebox to the right initially because Garrett's side sprite would block the left side, so we're considering placing the names in the center or trying to fight with the code some more to find a solution. Hopefully we'll get this fixed soon.

fioricca finished more of the title screen as well as Rita and Dr. Han's sprites.

Welcome to the age of dynamic main menus. leon managed to convince me out of imagemaps and into the magical and uncharted land of imagebuttons. Needless to say, I'm a believer now. They work the same as maps but the transparent parts of your image aren't clickable, so now you can get cooler screens. The preview above has Garrett highlighted in a blue-ish tint because I forgot to move my mouse out of the way oops

I'm gonna go write my part for Reverse Robin (which you guys should join in on too :V ) then jump back into the script. Any comments, feedback, etc. on what we have going right now? Thoughts on the textbox especially appreciated~

Yeah, imagebuttons really make life easier, especially if you're neurotic like me and you constantly fiddle with things.

Grain of salt dept: If sticking with two box, maybe drop the namebox bg and add a thin black outer outline to the text. Different colors may not be necessary. Garrett's got a side image, and you've got all those great, distinctive sprites, one legible color that matches everything could work.

Man, this is shaping up to be something super epic. I love the diversity in your characters, both in design and in personality~ :D
That wordcount looks super promising as well, I'm definitely looking forward to this!


I agree with saguaro with adding a block/grey border around the name, but I still think having colour coded names is a good idea.
I do think having the name box right in the middle looks slightly strange; it looks like it's naming the sprite behind it instead of the speaker, but if Garrett blocks it on the left then there's not much you can do, I suppose o_o.

We just figured out how to fix that namebox problem orz After all that trouble I'm not so inclined to drop the bg, but I did add outlines as suggested and they match the sprites wonderfully. Thanks for the feedback!

@ FatUnicornGames and Tag-: Thanks! I'm hoping that pushing myself for quantity won't compromise my nonexistent quality, but I'm definitely going to retouch after NaNo. We did manage to fix the problem with names as mentioned above, so don't worry about it being in the middle. Because it's left of center now

Wordcount hit 20K so I’m about 1/3 done with Day 5. My day was surprisingly busy (chores, shopping, going out for dinner, "important things") but at least I got out of the house. Currently writing confessions of possible crushes and listening to a jazz album I downloaded, it's pretty radical. I'm both looking forward to and dreading going to a festival tomorrow for most of the day D:

I honestly can't tell if this is an accurate representation of high school anymore because it's pretty crazy, yet some of this stuff happens in my school? This probably won't be like those other millions of HS games though so take that as you will.

@arachni42: I sound like a broken record but fioricca's really awesome *_* leon also just finished the Options/Preferences screen so there's more GUI goodies.

From there you branch off to Leave or Stay endings (2)
Then you have individual character endings (3)
Based on your relationship (meh or good) with that character you have different epilogues (2)
For example, Garrett stays and he hung out with Pia the most, and they’re good friends.
Multiply all those possibilities (2x3x2) and you get a whopping 12 endings.

Before NaNo started I freaked out over the prospect of 12 endings and thought that maybe the Stay and Leave endings for each character wouldn't differ so much (the character texts Garrett instead of talking face to face), but I'm still not going to be able to write 6 endings in a timely manner for programming. What this means is no epilogue for the character you spent the most time with for the NaNo release, basically :c I'll work in dialogue variances so hopefully that's okay? Sacrifices must be madeeee

I must of spent a good 10 minutes staring at this and I'm still confused as to whether you're joking or serious. First off, while VNsNow wasn't expecting much from this game besides something to poke fun at and mock, nowhere did he say "it sucks because there's gay people, most of the characters aren't etc." or anything like that. He said it's going to be cliche and over the top. The latter I was aiming for, the first is something I hope editing will stamp out as much as possible. I don't know if tagging the thread with Comedy will help people get the message that this was intended to be a silly and fun game, I mean there's a guy with a tie on his head. What else am I supposed to do?
Besides, try reading his FYI page before making accusations.
Quite honestly I'm more confused than "angry" as to how I even got on that blog post. I'm too tired this month to react to U Mad taunts.
