Desolate Isolation [NaNoRenO 2013]

So.....I've decided to reveal my entry for NaNoRenO! I think I can finally do it this time, now that I am starting earlier and I won't go too ambitious crazy~

Name of project: Desolate Isolation
Perspective; Male first person.
Sprites: free to use from LemmaSoft~ however, I might actually have an artist! 2 sprites will be designed by me and drawn by my brother for ACR's MMORPG, since it is OK for those to vary in style since it is the game world.
Backgrounds: free to use resources, and a few originals by my brother
Music: free to use stuff from Jamendo.com, one original song sung in my made up Assarian language (acapella, no background music).
CGs? I shall try, and they will be drawn by me.
Voice acting: Yes, BUT! No promising there will be voice acting for the completed project at the end of NaNoRenO. I may provide a patch or a version 2 with the voices for those who want it~
Multiple Endings? YES!
Opening video? YES! A simple one, nothing too spectacular, as it needs to be done for NaNoRenO~
Obtainables? This has some BxG, so there are possible obtainable girls. You can also build close, brotherly friendships with guys.

These screens contain a total of 19,738 words,
for an average of 9.1 words per screen.

SYNOPSIS OF THE GAME: This takes place in a fantasy realm I have been developing for years called Assara, so there will be multiple races, not just human. In fact, all of mankind are called 'humanoids' since all the races pretty much look human, are have a human form. However, twist~ I am basing it in the post-apocalyptic era of Assara, so now we throw in technology of survival into the mix.

It's been nearly 100 years since the failed experiments escaped and ravaged Assara. Assarians simply call them "Demons". 70 safe cities known as The Refuge Districts were built all across the Assarian regions, protecting what's left of the world's population. Those who would prefer not to be under the district system established their own towns, simply known as Settlements. Only two regions do not have districts are remained as they are--- Amara, the floating kingdom of The Winged, and Lantern Cove, the underground region.

Recently, demon attacks got worse and worse, especially in the region known as Artera. Refuge districts began to be shut down, due to being overrun by the demons. One night, Asher woke up to find that his Refuge District had been abandoned---he was alone. Logging onto Artera's online network, though servers are mysteriously still up and running, nobody else is online. And Artera seems to have been severed from the main network that connects all regions as one. Artera has truly been left in isolation, a desolate, abandoned region.

Five months, he's been alone, still using the Internet only to be the only one online.... or is he really the only one left in Artera?

Depending on your choices will depend on who you meet on Artera's network (known as ACR--Artera Connection Ring), or you "may" meet them all.

The main character you will be playing, Asher has been alone in Artera for a total of five months. Both of his parents are dead---his father was a local Demon Hunter, and died in a hunting raid, while his mother died of a demon breaking into their apartment.

On one of the paths, Asher meets a girl on ACR's MMORPG. This is her toon.

A friendly female-form android who, for some reason, can only speak in Assarian. This makes communication rather difficult.

And there you have it! I will work my hardest to make this the best I can for NaNoRenO. Even if some things remain unfinished, it will be released, and updates will be given to it later, but I think I can have it nearly perfect by the end of March~ The world of Assara is very special to me, and I wanted to sort of introduce it with this novel. It will reference some events that I want to make a full, detailed VN concerning it. The world will be explained more in that, while only brief explanations were given for this, due to time constraints. Wish me luck!

So.....I have been madly writing, like never before in such a long time! Ohhhh....it feels so good to program again!

Updated the main post with the current Lint stats;

I'm close to finishing one of the endings. It's a quick path, depending on you play. I have also been working on a couple paths, which are going smoothly. So many different ways the main character finds other characters.

Since the main guy doesn't have a sprite of his own, I'm going to draw him myself, so look out for that~

What to expect;

There will be some original art by me, since there are some characters I can:t find matching sprites for, so some will be seen in CG-only, and I'll attempt making for the first time ONE original sprite~

Here's some of the plans of other features to expect in this game;
- Could not find a free to use sprite for everybody, so SOME original character art will be in the game. Some characters may appear as CG Only. It's official that I will be making 1 original sprite. Once the game is released, I will be releasing her as a free-to-use. *If* I make any more sprites for this game, they will not be released for free use.
- Cannot find all the backgrounds needed, so I am in the planning stages with my brother of what backgrounds he will need to make. When this game is released, some of these backgrounds will be released for free use.
- Today, I am going to draw the default menu. I *might*, if I have enough time, draw more menus you can unlock via endings.

I will not post another update until I have anything original to show you (whether the menu is done, sprite sketch, or background).

So even though this uses a lot of free-to-use, some originals cannot be avoided.

Wow, the clock is sure winding down! If I cannot complete the game fully, I will release the True Route as a Kinetic Novel for NaNoRenO and release the full, choice version later, but I:m gonna see if I can wrap this all up~
