Swibble VN 1 [BxG²] [Owlcon] [Vegetation + owl themed girls]

Sorry I'm not really verbose.

This is a VN I'm making to learn how to make a VN so I can make one that isn't shit later. It's kind of absurd, filled with things I find entertaining. I don't really know how to explain it without giving away too many gags so here are some pictures and brief character descriptions. More will be added when I make them up.

Hoot-chan
How did you think an owl would dress itself.

Pretty much an owl, climbs up a tree next to your house and stares at you at night, that kind of thing. Tragically born with impeccable comedic timing.

Image

Pumpkin

Likes to bake. Too polite. Attempts to bake poorly to cheer up strawberry. Deus ex makes her cake exquisite anyway. Impossibly durable.

Strawberry

Obsessed with baking. Cannot bake. Has little sense of boundary.

I really want to paint the backgrounds myself so they will probably not be super detailed. But they will definitely exist.

One of the first steps in writing is getting started. Once you know that you can start, finish, and release a story, then you can move on to greater things. It's probably best to start with a visual novel that's relatively short and simple. And you might want to give yourself a deadline -- for instance, a month from now. These are some of the basic notions behind National Novel Writing Month (aka Nanowrimo), an organization that has helped quite a few aspiring writers.

It sounds like your cast will include an anthropomorphised owl, and girls with qualities related to strawberries and pumpkins. Any specific reason why you will include these characters in major roles? It's amusing and absurd, but I'm curious why you made this choice.

It's not going to be very long or complicated at all. To try and make something "complete" is exactly why I'm doing it. I made the characters that way just because I found the idea of them entertaining. I would probably never feel motivated to finish if it were just "normal".

Hopefully the chance to write amusing and intentionally absurd characters will be part of what motivates you. Seize this opportunity to write a world where things don't have to be ordinary or even plausible.
